keel strips for canoes

Post by DaveB » Mon Jan 23, 2017 7:42 am

Our fleet of open canoes will soon need keel strips fitting but there seem to be a lot of options out there from kevlar to plastic. Any recommendations?

Have a look on Reed Chill Cheater site. They do a keel strip kit for £20. Seems pretty good and good value. I put the endless river ones on the work fleet and there is already some wear showing.

Reed's KeelEazy strips last me about 2 years of "pretty-much-every-weekend-paddling" use on my Royalex Prospector. Can be put on with hair dryer, but heat gun better.

RecRepair versions are far tougher, but far pricier.
