Rangef 16 repair?

Post by Captain Chris » Sun Jul 12, 2015 10:02 am

I just bought a ranger 16 canoe for a bargin price, but it needs a liittle repair! It has about an 2cm whole in the bottom and i want to attempt to plastic weld it but ive never done this before...eeek! Can i get away with just doing the outer skin or do i need to take out the fiberglass inner shell out and weld both sides of the plastic outer shell? Any advice would be much appreciated.

The Ranger does not have a fibreglass inner shell; it is a foam core sandwich with the outer layers of PVC. These outer layers are quite thin so you would need to be pretty skilful to weld them. Best of luck! I would be finding a professional.

Personally I'd be doing as much as possible to make sure it's watertight! Unless the repair costs more than the boat I'd get a pro to do it
