Slow waters in Brecons for round trip in an inflatable?

Post by SmallYellowBoat »

I've got an inflatable kayak and will be staying to the north east of the Brecons in a few weeks for a few days.
I'd love to get the kayak out for a day or two but looking for locations that are suitable for a relatively inexperienced couple in an inflatable, ideally where return journeys are possible. Happy to travel to pretty much anywhere in the Brecons but further East is more preferable.

If there's anywhere you can recommend it'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The Monmouth and Brecon canal. Car park across the road in Brecon. Pub a suitable way along for lunch. It's on the left hand bank side. Have to walk a little way down the bank to get to it.
Not to much flow, very pretty- wildflowers etc.

East of the Brecons ...... the River Wye? Be aware that there are difficulties with the launch point at Glasbury so you could start at Hay-on-Wye, but it is really a one way trip - downstream!
Canoeing - bigger boat, broken paddle, more skill!
