How to place a picture into your post made easy!!!

Post by xrayhead » Sat Apr 12, 2008 9:38 pm

As so many people don’t know how to add pictures to their classified add I’ve put a quick FAQ together, hope this helps some of you out.
If you need any more help just post in the end of this thread!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1:
Register for an account at Photobucket. Photobucket is a free picture hosting site.

Step 2:
Click on Albums + Uploads on the left side of the page.

Image

Step 3:
Choose "Add More" if you have more then 3 pictures to upload.

Step 4:
Use the "Browse" button next to each field to select the pictures from your computer hard drive that you want to put into your post.

Image

Step 5:
Upload you pictures to Photobucket by clicking on the "Upload" button after your pictures are selected.

Image

Step 6:
Copy the IMG CODE tag onto your clipboard. The IMG tag is found in the forth field underneath each picture in your Photobucket album.

Image

Step 7:
Paste the IMG tag from your clipboard into your post.

Adding more than one image!!

Step 8:
Now hit the SUBMIT button and that's all there is to it!!

Other site's I've used bellow:

Well done, nice and clear. I've added this discussion to our Almanac article on the Sea site.

Also make sure that the "Disable BBCode in this post" is not ticked... I've finally worked out why nothing ever worked in my efforts to post pictures or make my text do fancy things!!!

Shame it hasn't been incorporated into the far from useful FAQ on posting an image - it's taken me 5 hours to get this far to try and post an image on sea and surf.

Now the only problem is how to make the size of the image conform to the message board. I've tried resizing on Picture bucket but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Can anyone help please?

Dave

If you link to a picture in Photobucket it shouldn't matter about the size as you are not uploading to ukriversguidebook.co.uk! All you are doing is adding BB CODE (see bellow)

Could this thread not be made into a "sticky" so it's at the top or added to Mark's post at the very top of this page????

I was looking the other day but could find it in the search and couldn't remember the authors name. After reading it now, it was what I already knew how to do anyway but wished to check.

Just a thought...

All this is even easier if you use Snagit http://www.techsmith.com/ with the Flicker add-on!!

Seems we STILL have people asking HOW to add pictures to there post's!!

Don't know if anyone fancy's doing it, but it would really help for people to add the link to this thread in there signature. We are still getting so many requests for photo's of kit for sale and I see the same old answer time and time again "Sorry I'm trying to work out how to add my pictures to my post"

For anyone interested I have been using Snagit for years as an image capture and upload tool!
If I've shoot some video I just pause it, take a screen capture and upload to my free FLICKER account in seconds. Its real easy to add the URL to any post with a quick copy and paste :-)

I did all the captures above with Snagit......

Check it out here; http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp

This was so helpful and straight forward, I just dont know why this is not made easier to find and on the FAQ. It would have saved a lot of time and searching.

Thanks again, very useful.
