Re: Pyranha Varun...

Looks like, Ha Ha ok it definately does look like an Inazone, Z-one, I D, Fun, In the end it's a Varun and like Simon says above the only Uk based manufacturer who are putting new boats out there. We should be applauding Pyrahna for pushing forward. I personally like the look of it. Well done Pyrahn...

Re: Grading boulder strewn rivers.

I have found the best way to get used to the speed of the water out there is to just run sections of river that are inside your capabilities. We were out there in June with good water levels. We hit the slalom site for a few days getting used to water speed, breaking in and out and generally getting...

Re: Scottish Borders paddling

I won't comment on the negative. Like everywhere in the UK all of the runs in Ayrshire, The Borders and beyond needs rain to make them fun. Like Tim says there are a few other sport options if the water is low but also a few options if your wanting to go boating. The Nith runs most of the time. It c...

Re: Lost, Shoguns on the Middle Claree

Hogboy,
Thanks for that. It's a very good point. I'm still keen to see if it's at all possible to get it back. It is definatly in behind the tree thats stuck in the undercut.
If we had a long rope we'd have hauled the tree out and cleared it. Cest La Vie.

Re: Lost, Shoguns on the Middle Claree

I'm 99 percent certain my Shoguns are in the undercut behind the tree. They went in but were never spotted coming back out. We had a good old haul about in there pulling and trying to loosen the tree but it's just not ready to come out yet by manpower. There's also at least 3 throwlines entangled in...

Lost, Shoguns on the Middle Claree

Hi, I lost my Werner Shoguns on the Middle Claree on the 30th of June. There is a handsome reward for there return if anyone spots them. My name George mcmillan, email address george897@btinternet.com and phone number 07767332601 are all on each blade in permanent marker. Thank you.

Boats on Planes

I'm looking to fly out to either Marseille or Grenoble in a few weeks time for some Alps fun. Ryanair is probably my airline of choice. Do they take Kayaks ok? There and back? I don't mind having to pay a few quid extra but don't want my wallet raped at the checkin desk. Is it a good idea to book my...

Re: Lets all do a rain dance.

The forecasted rain for last Saturday didn't materialise. There is a hope tho. Metcheck is saying that were going to be getting 6.3 mm of rain tonight, That equates to a flash spate for us. So fingers crossed we'll be boating tommorow night after work. Thats if the forecast is anything to go by. g

Re: Lets all do a rain dance.

It's been dry here in Ayrshire for months now, forcing us to drive north to the River Awe most weekends. Kind of sick of it now too. These showers that have been happening are only teasing us. The ground will just soak it all up pronto. What we need is a good proper british monsoon that lasts for we...

Re: Turin Carhire and roofrack

Back to the thread topic. Is there a car hire company that have roofracks or rails? I'm trying to finalise plans as well. 5th June for 2 weeks? Another option is getting a car that's big enough to put the Nomad inside. A costly affair I'd rather avoid. Thanks g

The best whitewater paddlers are not on here bumping there gums about some nonsense, they are out there each and every weekend putting the miles on there cars/vans heading for some river meeting point with there friends and having a laugh and a crack while at it. They are also not gear junkies drool...

Personally, If theres any scouting to be done from the riverbank. I want to have faith in my footwear. So far 5:10s are the only footwear that inspire that faith for me. I've got Merrell Gauleys for the Kingpin days and they just slip all over the place. Just my thoughts g

I dare you all to sit above a hard rapid with a set of waterproof earphones on listening to "Claustrophobic Sting" by the Prodigy. Give it a minute to seep into your head then push off into the current. Frikkin Awesome.

Name and Shame them. This outcome has only come about because we as a community have a vested interest in each other. As we do on the river as well.
Would be interested to find out the outcome of the Ebay seller.

Re: Loads of Paddling kit stolen in the Glasgow area

What bothers me in this disaster is that this has been pre organised. Thats a hell of alot of kit to go missing.
It would have taken a big van or even a truck to haul all of that kit away.
As always we really must be vigilant in the buying of second hand kit.

Re: Creekboat for a larger paddler

I say everest. The Large Burn will be too tight with size 13 5'10s on. I had a L Burn until a few months ago. (Nomad now) I paddled it alot wearing size 11 5'10s I wouldn't like to be wearing anything bigger footwear wise that is as it was a squeeze getting the size 11s into the Large Burn. Either t...
