Re: Typhoon Multisport 4 sizing.

I am 6'2" and 15.5 stone and have the large. I have plenty or room and this is generous re length. You sound like you need the LM. I originally tried the large broad and I could have put my kayak inside with me so I swapped for L.

Tried it, can't do it. If you could see my helmet and all the scratches from rocks from my last week in Wales you would appreciate why I am not bothering. Leaning forward meant that I did not need to visit hospital to repair facial damage. It's really worth persevering. Quite often you will go over...

Re: New Boats ???

A creek boat will let you get away without lifting an edge, or not switching edges at the right time - you may get a slight kick but it will rarely tip over, but the kick probably isn't very pronounced and often you may not feel anything at all to tell you that you are doing it wrong. Depends on th...

Re: New Boats ???

Once again I agree with Dave. I have a knee brace that coast over £400. You can pick cheap one up for £20 but they don't enable me to ski off piste whereas the first one does.

Re: New Boats ???

I just don't get why paddlers think new boats are expensive. No, I'm not made of money. I can't think of any other sport where the main bit of kit you need is so cheap. It's actually hard to spend much more than a grand on a creek boat. You get to paddle exactly the same boats as the very top profe...

Have you thought about selling up and moving abroad to paddle? Here is one persons perspective- http://www.unsponsored.co.uk/press/immigration-with-a-kayak/ Yes, I love skiing as well so the Alps are calling. We came close to buying a place this summer. The search continues.... it is only a matter ...

Re: What boats do you use?

I want another couple of boats, but I've already bought 4 this year and was already running out of places to store them.
Replace the furniture in your living room with whichever boats are not being used at the time. A coupl of cushions and a lamp and you might just get away with it.

Re: What boats do you use?

Currently have a Liquid Logic Flying squirrel, A Titan Genesis and a Inazone 242 used by the kids....need to find a better place to store then as they currently litter my patio! That is where my boats live. I put the on garden furniture which seems to stop snails joining me when I am on the river. ...

One Liquid Logic Stomper , a Jefe, a Wavesport D65, an old Pyrahna Inazone, a Perception Arc and a canoe of unknown origin. The fleet may be expanding soon to include a play boat.

I have been thinking about finding a chanlleng that I can do and get sponsored for Cancer Reaserch. Re: Nervous paddlers

The idea that capsize is failure can be a problem. Of course it is great to roll but providing you are in a good group so that it is a controlled environment mistakes should be embraced. This is of course easier to say than do but in reality it applies to anything in life. The problem comes when you...

Re: Nervous paddlers

Sometimes it is as simple as breathing when you are trying something new. There is a tendency to hold your breath as you enter a challenging move and this has the affect of causing tension in your core which reduces your ability to react to the changing conditions in the water. One way of doing this...

It's a good course! Took my very first swim out of a kayak there -- and my very first roll, in the same session! The trick to the big drop is leaning forward and planting a last, big stroke on the lip of the drop; should carry you right over, even if you've been turned sideways a bit. Yep, that wor...

I've just got back. I've never over-turned so many times in 1.5 hours! I just couldnt get the big drop right, and toppled over 4 times there, only clearing it once. Then to add insult, I toppled over in the bottom pool waiting to get out. Alan.(using Raes account) Sounds like an eventful session. I...

Nene

Well that was an interesting couple of hours. Small eddy practise in a big boat actually made for a good afternoon. I can't see me going back but it was time reasonable well spent. Biggest challenge was getting out of the kayak with a cruciate injury! Still nice people and a good bacon sandwich.
