Re: RE: Beginner q: Getting swamped boat out of the water

So, someone has wet exited. I am on the bank or the side of the swimming pool. The boat is full of water. What is the best way of getting the boat drained and put away without damage to back or boat? If I turn the boat upside down, cockpit downwards, bow on the bank, stern in the water, the water s...

Jim I suppose you have built up quite a resistance to water nasties by now. But people not used to river water haven't.

Re: Dagger Axiom Sizing Advice

At 82-120 kg recommended weight for the 9 you are an almost ideal weight for the bigger boat? I am right at the bottom of the recommended weight for the 8.5 but find it easy to paddle. It is very responsive, fast and accurate. Plus I can fit proper boots in it. For me the 8 felt much smaller, more l...

Re: Peak District - Touring

River derwent Darley bridge to Matlock bath. A fairly short section but should be nice for an afternoon paddle. See the guide on this site.
Anything under 0.5 to 0.45 on the matlock bath gauge is pretty low but still goes. What boats will you be using?

Excellent customer service

Just like to give lan and crew at Wye Canoe shop a big thumbs up for the excellent customer service I have received from them recently, they really went beyond what is normally expected so I'd just like to give credit where it is due and I would recommend them to everyone.

Thanks guys!

Re: RE: Re: Bl**dy Rolling

BA gets stuck between the boat and me, no way I can get as far round with it in place. Probably restricts flexibility too, just not so obvious. Right angle to stop the paddle diving makes the rear blade foul on the boat, a longer paddle might help with this? I struggled with this to start with in m...

Thanks guys I ordered some earlier this morning, hopefully should get it tomorrow.

My neoprene neck seal has always sealed properly on the cag, but I've never had a proper munching wearing it. Quite leaking at the moment though!

Glue neoprene neck seal?

After getting quite wet this evening I found my glideskin neck seal is coming apart on the seam. What do I glue it with? Superglue? I could do with it for this weekend as a spare.

Desperate measures own branded kevlar deck fitted perfectly and is good quality, with a sticky coating on the inside too.Might be wrong but I thought they were made by playboater? Bit cheaper at around £60.

Copper and aluminium can react to cause corrosion. You can use Very high temp aluminium grease instead, but this is more for automotive industry and overkill . Normal grease would suffice. ( and is cheaper)

Re: Should I paddle with people who don't belong to a Club

Why limit yourself to one group of boating buddies? I paddle weekly with one club, do separate river trips with a group outside of a club ( which are the people I've learnt most from) and this winter I will pay club fees for a different club for the convenience of their pool sessions nearby. If you ...

Example - sitting having lunch in a park last year (In Australia) and a mother pushing a pram saying to her 2 year old, "Don't run, you might fall and hurt yourself."
