Re: Stepping up grades

I think u have something there in your theory. (Db) As u step up through grades. Initially, it's the excitement of learning bout rolling / features etc. Your reaction time improves. Something I would have thought about and then dealt with, just becomes a reaction. As I have improved to grd 3. Physica...

Re: The in-betweeners - frustrations of an intermediate

The answer to the original post is. Ur not the only one feeling this way. Yes. Like u. I too have the same issues. Try my best to get out on a Sunday.( Having said that I haven't been on the Usk for about 6 years.) Relying on club mates has limited the range of river I get to paddle. So what is the ...

Re: I know a good few club coaches who openly voice their di

Hum. Don't know any one who feels that way about pro coaches. Given that most of the coaches become an extended part of the club
That we would go to raise the general standard of group.
Let us know if any one takes up ur offer of developing coaches. I will defo talk to our chairman.

Re: Who's had coaching then?

Most of the coaches we /I have used came about as a result of personal needs. So yes. Have been coached by very patient club coaches. Who spend days and weeks developing beginners. As well as exceptional coaches like Dennis Newton. Andy Grimsby. And Simon Westgaarths team. So this begs a follow-up q...

Re: New Boats ???

I come from a Manufacturing background - Automotive Toyota Production Systems (TPS) (having said that I don't know how Pyranha make kayaks - I can imagine it but don't really know.) So let me ask some simple question. Do u involve basic paddlers in ur design process. I dont mean the technical stuff....

Re: Should I paddle with people who don't belong to a Club

Thanks Guys/Girl It was really helpful. Jim U r right its a moral issue....and Our club is an easy going club and does not enforce the 3 paddle rule and we have Cub paddles and "mates" Paddles... Ur analysis from various points of view helped a lot to clarify my own thoughts. The easy with which we ...

Should I paddle with people who don't belong to a Club

I have a number of kayaking friends who have used the opportunity to develop there skills through a club over the last 10 years. some have gone from no paddling skills to grd 4+ runners. So I now find my self paddling with a group - those that cough up £25 to £50 membership fees - and those that poi...

Re: Tuna or Burn?

It is a Super Boat. Just to reiterate - I loved it. Just MY roll was an issue. Which was a Combination of my skill level, Short Upper body length, the High Seating & the Rocker curve.
Let us know how u get on with it.

Re: Tuna or Burn?

Only paddled the Tuna. Found it Fun and light to carry. A bit too long to get into my Van. In the Alps - end of June. waters were low. Got stuck on the gravel above S bend. Really enjoyed the big bouncy water on the Durance. Had to sell it as my lazy roll did not work all the time. The large rocker ...

Re: Vimeo and music copyright

Taking DMs point - Don't put music on a video. Its generally distracting and set to far too a loud level, I end up muting it any way.
It is interesting to hear the actual recorded sound from the trip. Shouts of swimmer etc and the banter that goes on.
