Re: How Do Clubs Communicate to it's Members?

Google calendar and club emails. We have a Facebook page and website but that's more for after events than before.

Check out the Cruz bici-rack. Just got two and t track adapters from the roof box company and I'm very pleased with them.

The island on Derwentwater is St Herbert's. Derwent island has a house on. We paddled there last Sunday and on arriving the NT guy advised us not to block in two cars who'd been on the island over night. Now seeing as they own the island I'm guessing it's accepted as long as users are responsible. S...

Hope you got a good price John. We've just placed an order for a new set. Last ones did us 7 years on salt water and lots of abuse. Can't argue with that

Re: replacing deck bungee

I cut the rope on an angle and melted the end to give a needle like point to aid threading. I used rope though as I was told that's better for touring. Still got the odd bungee bit for securing paddles

Re: Ainsworth touring paddles.. Thoughts?

I had a demo and liked the blades but can't justify the cost personally especially looking at the Ainsworth as £200 in comparison. 633cm2 is a fairly medium blade isn't it?

That said I haven't bit the bullet yet so my decision isn't made

I can vouch for typhoon customer service. Emailed them about a leaky sock. They repaired it for free and pressure tested the suit whist they had it.

That's a terrible list. ROHO is certainly better than the one I've visited on the list. Always had good dealings with North East kayaks too but not yet visited the shop

Have a look at second hand kit as well. Even a leaky drysuit is probably better than a wetsuit especially with good base layers

So little information. It would benefit you to give a rough idea of what the big kit is and where you are. Plus a rough price for the bigger kit.

But the heavier boat would be lower in the water and hence have a different hull shape in essence. Surely that would slow the boat down. It's also often recognised that length of the boat has an impact on the speed it can go.

I'm guessing this is for whitewater? If so I'd say invest in good dry kit whether that's trousers and cag or full suit is your choice.

We use the foam bladed ones at club. They're good enough for beginners. I have a foam pair with carbon shaft. Cost £85 I think

Just a quick personal comment. I bought a 'cheap' pair of Ainsworth two piece paddles (not carbon) for my deck spares. My main paddle at the time was a Werner Tybee with carbon shaft. Having tried the Ainsworth during a trip 3 years ago, the Werner now stays on the deck and the Ainsworth is my padd...
