Re: 3* Touring Kayak info

Interesting. I know people use small sails on kayaks. Have a search on Google and you'll see what's available. Lining I'm guessing is similar to a Canoe. Ideally lining down rapids that you may not wish to paddle in a touring kayak that's funny loaded. I must say it looks very similar to the Canoe s...

Re: Imaginary club coaching course

But how often do the public who attend a club ask for qualifications? I tend to find people listen and respond to me on the water because I look like I know what I'm doing. I'm now an L1 coach but personally I'd be happy leading groups outside of that remit and can if approved by a more qualified co...

Re: Imaginary club coaching course

Personally I think I'd want anyone taking groups out to be a competent paddler I.e 2* equivalent. Able to work with someone of equally ability and perform deep water rescues. A lot of our training is in house at the club. Our club is sheltered water so easy to keep within L1 remit. Practising rescue...

I suspect not but does it just become benefit vs risk. There will be plenty who paddle a canoe without a BA though. Dynamic risk assessment as British Canoeing put it.
