large nasty tree stump approx 250 meters upstream from road bridge near sedburgh (lincoln bridge). marked by yellow fluorescent work vest river left of centre. can be spotted from 100 meters or so upstream in low/medium level but not visible in high water. pinning hazard/strainer but passable river ...

tried to have a go at it with the chainsaw this afternoon but river level to high. will have another go when it drops but the blockage is now marked with a yellow, fluorescent work vest which is visible from a hundred feet or so upstream, just river left of centre. Folks with good maneuvering skills...

Hi Steve A- im interested to know about the pencil and piece of wood and how you use it to get the hand position for rolling. I'm having difficulty in learning to roll despite lots of practice so any tips would be appreciated

river levels in the lakes are very low at the mo with little rain forecast. some of the lakes fed rivers are prob your best bet

hi jakey- Im kendal based and usualy finish work around 2pm so can get out in the afternoons. Am ok on grade 3 stuff but not really tackled a 4 so maybe a mild easy ? 4 would be gd. if youre interested in a safety/rescue course try these folks:-

Boat is about 8 years old , fully fitted with thigh braces, seat and backrest etc all good condition. No splits or welds and fully watertight. Usual scratches etc....

water levels in lakes have been huge/high but dropped off a lot. leven is still big and bouncy though

had a look in the reed beds and a few bays around waterhead but no sign of it. I can have another paddle friday on the lake propper as I finish work around lunchtime so prob go out anyway.

have you been in contact with ambleside/windermere police. might also be worth contacting brathay hall outdoor centre as the use that part of the lake on a regular basis so they might see it. will try and take a look this week up at the rothay/lake confluence area
