Re: Crank shaft versus straight, advice please

Is it just that the indexing is a little more precise on straights than cranks?

I tried writing a response on here last night but couldn't come up with anything. I still can't really come up with anything that seems worthwhile other than to reinforce the messages of sympathy about your loss and to say how very sorry I am.

Re: The friendliest place to paddle WW in the UK is...

Everywhere I paddle seems to be friendly. It must be the company I keep!

Joking apart, even the places renowned for getting a bit of flack seem to be ok when you're with a decent group and then bump into other paddlers too

Re: I4 vs Loki

I've got a large Loki because it sounded perfect for me (being a bit old school. Well, just old really) I haven't had it that long but some days I love it and some days I think about getting shut. It's currently a bit of a love-hate thing but on good days I really do like it!

I like this video and it's nice to see boats other than Burns, Shivas, Raptors etc on the rivers.

I like to paddle G2 with the odd bit of 3. I can play in and out of eddies for hours, surf little waves and splat whatever appears. I sometimes struggle to find people to paddle with as they want to be off bouncing down damp rocks.

Re: Minimum coaching quals for coaching on white water

Oh, and it wasn't a challenge as to whether the intro trip was being run "within remit". You know how many coach (singular, thanks Mike) came out on my last trip and I need to know what level of qualified leaders / coaches I need to be pestering to get out with us to cover some of the things people ...

Re: Minimum coaching quals for coaching on white water

Quinny, could I ask if your post refers to LCC trips? Yes Mike, I'm just seeking some clarity over wording really and your email helps explain this. I have been "corrected" in the past when it comes to trip emails and some of the courses I've set up using external commercial coaches but its never b...

Re: Minimum coaching quals for coaching on white water

Thanks guys. It doesn't directly relate to me but when circulating club trip emails we have to be clear whether it is "coach led" which means that any level of coach with 4* could lead but not necessarily coach and "not coach led" trips which are competent paddlers only or 4* led. However, we do hav...

As above really, what are the minimum coaching quals and endorsements required for coaching a beginners group on G2/3?

I had a bit of a swim the other week and someone was trying to help me in to an eddy. I think it would actually have been easier and quicker to grab a tape to get to the back of his boat.

Paddles...

I currently use some Streamlyte playstix for rivers and some Streamlyte composite paddles for playing. Having tried a mates cranked paddles I quite fancy giving some a proper go so I'm looking for recommendations. However, they will be a river set and I have a tendency to muller my paddles. In an id...

The signs appear to be more than a little misleading and are completely unnecessary. Seems like a waste of time, money and natural resources to produce something that really doesn't fit with the surroundings!

Re: Boat Prices.. is it just me!

My view on this is that the top guys in paddling are using a £900 boat that is available in the stores for the rest of us mere mortals to buy if we want. By today's standards, £900 isn't a huge amount of money to be using the best gear currently available in the world. Yes, there's a big gap between...
