Re: What are conditions like in Wales?

River levels are very low at present, with most precipitation falling as sleet or snow so locking in the water. Temperatures also on the chilly side of pleasant, probably falling below zero even at sea level during the nights. I assume you'd want a pretty good sleeping bag if camping, though I bivie...

Re: Creek boats for small people

I am of similar height and weight to you Nathan. On bigger water I have found that the increased volume in say a Burn M/Nomad/Magnum over a Burn S makes larger features more manageable, as though the lower volume may make it more manoeverable, re-surfacing suffers. Staying on top of things is key (g...

Hi Claire, sorry to hear about your paddles. Where abouts on the river did you lose your paddles as there are often parts where kit will collect?

Re: WANTED: S or M Pyranha Burn & Small paddle

Hi Leila,

I have a spare short length, small shaft paddle made by an American company - very similar construction to Werner. If you are up in North Wales at any point I'm sure we can work out a good price.

Cheers,

I'm still in shock after hearing the news earlier today. On the few occasions I have met Chris and from reading his many articles, a great deal of inspiration has been drawn from him. A truly fantastic guy and one who we'll all miss. My thoughts go to his family and those who knew him.

Few days at Woolacombe

Heading over to Woolacombe from this weekend onwards for a while, to stay with some friends. Unfortunately I'm kayakless on this trip so wondered if there was anywhere I could hire/borrow/beg/steal a boat from nearby?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Pop a post on the Bangor Uni Canoe Club forum and you may find something as I know of various graduates who are in houses in this area.

Richa, I am not on here for your entertainment, the steps we took last year were against paddlers in low water conditions and over Spawning grounds, the lads (as you know from previous posts) were from Bangor uni, as I am sure you are in contact with them (Dogger Dave and Co) can you ask them if th...

I have a set of paddles that would be spot on for your size, I can do them for under fifty pounds and they are a similar construction to Werners.

PM me for pics.
