Re: CRB / DBS not required!

I don't get what the big deal is with getting a CRB/DBS - the forms not that bad. Further if it stops just one case of abuse then I'm good with that. Why push against something that is when all is said and done pretty simple. If you have no convictions etc what is honestly the beef? You fill in the ...

I got the 3 didn't consider the 2 as it didn't seem to be available anywhere I personally could find.

I'm enthusiastic but ultimately cack with technology and found it pretty easy to set up.

Dave - if you want to borrow mine to try - more than welcome!!

Re: CRB / DBS not required!

Think this is will change nothing for many people. Instead of the BCU doing the check, it will simply be the deployer. I can not think of a single club or commercial setting in which you will not be required to have a CRB to coach. Even if you do not work with kids, it relates to vulnerable adults ...

Big Yellow Pub on the A66

Sadly its been taken over by new management who have painted it off white so now its just the Fox Hall!

A pint and Sunday roast ciabatta with thick Yorkshire gravy was a winner :(

Blood moving around as effectively you've gone from prone (ish) to standing. You can partially train it out (google triathlon transition training) but it never truely goes away - certainly if you've been working hard.

Hi There I've also entered the event along with the Manchester and London swims and a few other nut case aquathlons. Positive point - my training lake opens for the year this weekend and another local lake started its sessions last week. Event will probably go ahead but will be chilly on hands and f...

Not an epic feature by any means, but there's "Killer Rock" at Matlock. Needless to say, on my first day kayaking, walking back past the slalom course after dropping the cars there scared the bejaysus out of me hearing fellow paddlers looking over the wall saying "so how's killer looking today then...

Re: Paddlers who can't swim very well.

When I bailed I let go of my paddles as they were the last thing on my mind, if I'd have kept hold of them they would have surely hindered my efforts to get to the bank. Agreed But as a kayaker I do find it embarrasing that I cant do a front crawl properly and can only breast stroke. Why not consid...

Re: Paddlers who can't swim very well.

I tend to agree on the whole with the OP I'm fortunate - I'm an ex club swimmer who dabbles (at best) in Triathlon and open water racing. However I don't judge all by that standard. But...I do coach and I like to see a strong swim in the pool before starting out on moving water. Its just reassuring ...

Maybe the upcoming fixture for the female paddler is a bit of specific coaching rather than dealing with th...

Re: Bring back the single discipline 2*

Lets be realistic about this, if you are expecting a club that only has kayaks to buy a fleet of Canadians in order to run entry level star courses, you are looking at a figure of £ 10,000 ! Do you then expect all non competitive clubs to open up competitive sections, and vice versa? Think you've h...

Hi Rhod Completely agree with you. I've had to force myself in to canoeing due to the aspiration of being a UKCC Level 2. Fortunately I have access to canoes and specialist canoe coaches. However at my old (10 years ago) school canoe club there were no canoes only kayaks as the club ran in the schoo...

Re: How Do get yours. (boating that is)

I am a paddling female. I grew up in paddling family as in both parents in boats. Life was spent next to the water, two choices do it or get left behind. Personally I dont have this issue as my partner also paddles. However - if the "better half" does not have a hobby of their own to fill their time...
