Re: Blingy Gear

I guess a custom dry suit would be the priciest item.

It's actually cheaper to buy Immersion Research gear in the UK than it is in the USA.

Franky wrote: I can get it on my new Mamba OK, with a fair bit of muscle power - but it would sometimes take me 2 minutes to get it on a Burn.
That'll be because the burn and mamba are massively different in cockpit size.

Mamba - keyhole/Large/Roto 4/1.4
Burn - bigdeck/XL/Roto 5/1.7

Re: SCA drama

Personally if I'm running an event, I want it to be a success. SCA funding or not. i think we even made a profit the past two years. That should go toward offsetting our terrible loses. ;) The fact that it is underwritten by the SCA is nice. I can't see one individual being able to settle that balan...

Spell my name right at least, Paul :P The bungee/drylip and rand IR decks are the same price. Neither are better or worse than one another, it just depends on what boating you are using it for. They each do different things better. Best to drop me a message and we will see what works for that indivi...

Re: Jackson Monstar Deck advice

The Monstar is a huge cockpit rim. Bigger than a traditional 'bigdeck'. It fits the XXL cockpit decks (US sizes) pretty well though.

As to which deck to buy, how much are you looking to spend? If you are wanting an easy fit you will probably want to avoid a rand deck.

but how to you take a comfort break if you are wearing one do they have an appropriate opening? Yup, there is an opening on both the men's and the women's. The men's accommodates a front relief zip, the women's is designed to compliment the drop seat designs of drysuits. I really hate one piece und...

To be fair to Mat, he can hardly help people with problems out if they don't come forward. I doubt any kayaking company has the resources to have one of their workers out looking for people with issues. Pyranha have a very simple to find contact form on their website - http://pyranha.com/contactUs.p...

That looks way bigger than the usual big deck/r5 sizes.

For IR sizes, that would be an XXL.

Playboater etc do keyhole/bigdeck. Palm do R3,R4 and R5. American brands tend to do M, L, XL, XXL. Seals have their own weird thing with numbers. All just different ways of labeling it. http://www.skirtfit.com/ is a good site for checking cockpit sizes. It's then probably best do go right to the man...

Re: Mamba Creek or River spec pros and cons?

For me, the benefits of the creek system seem to be the better hull reinforcing. The stronger beam down the middle, with foam to cushion it, should give better reinforcing than the lighter, welded in track. I'd imagine the pillar itself isn't where the extra weight is gained. It will be the complex ...

The x jacket material isn't used any more. I do remember some stuff about them using a 3 later fabric, then switching to a 4 layer fabric the next season. That could have been why they made that change a few years back.
