Re: I need an ecologist / help on lake access

Neil, we are aware who the ecologist is and, without providing individual details, we have concerns about the neutrality of the opinion provided and are unsure if it will be justified with specific empirical evidence. I've now been sent a few articles on the matter that appear to support us which I'...

Re: I need an ecologist / help on lake access

We have thought about going to the press and are going to do so if they refuse to compromise with us. We're into our 5th week of negotiations!

I need an ecologist / help on lake access

I am currently trying to make the case to my university that the new lake development they've constructed can be used for kayaking and canoe polo training sessions. The lake is 10 hectares in size (over a kilometer long and a couple of hundred meters wide at the widest point). They first told us tha...

Re: Is this a joke?

It seems like I'm not really adding anything here but we (university club from York) also found the staff to be unnecessarily confrontational and generally unpleasant. It's not worth the location or the facilites. We now always stay at Ty Isaf, the facilites are basic but the staff are absolutely gr...

Re: Knife

A paddling knife is an emergency tool to save your/someone elses life, so if you want to make sandwiches, either make them at home beforehand or bring a kitchen knife with you for that purpose, otherwise I won't be paddling with you. I really hope you're 'trolling'! For French boating, the Peak riv...

Managed to find this on the last rapid section before the bridge after going round a fairly blind turn, following shouts to "go hard left!" - apparently the right was too shallow....!

Re: How do people rate the WW courses in the UK?

depth is only really a problem at the bottom of 'Ski Slope', making the hole bottom left one to avoid Nah its fine just boof/put a power stoke off the little take off ramp where the water kicks up a bit before dropping into the hole, you tend to shoot over the hole below, thats probably why its cal...

Re: How do people rate the WW courses in the UK?

I'd say you were very lucky Perhaps, although I've thankfully mostly got out of the habit after splitting a SR Black Gold open in the Swiss Alps last year! To add a little to what was said about the Tryweryn, the rafts do sometimes stop and surf cafe wave which can be a problem as its obviously pop...

Couple of guys from YUCC went down there today and pulled out a load of tree material including a tree blocking the entrance to the fishladder so should be clear now beyond the log on the left hand side.

Re: How do people rate the WW courses in the UK?

all I know about it is that its shallow and you don't want to go down the grave yard looking at the fish Having run the entirety of graveyard on my head the first time I went down it before finally rolling up I would say the bark is worse than the bite in terms of doing that one upside down, not th...

Tree across the entire river with several dead sheep stuck in it in various states of decomposition, all this during a fresher's introductory paddle on the River Derwent!

Main tree is still in the same position in the fishladder as of yesterday and we pulled out two large branches and a tree trunk which were blocking the entrance to the fishladder, from the look of the the barrier marking the weir there has been a lot of trees coming down recently, however once the t...

Sony Vegas is has plenty of features I actually preferred it to Premier in terms of editing capability, however it is extremely buggy software and is dogged with rendering problems even on a fairly powerful PC, avoid it!

On a slightly related issue, does anyone have any advice on what to use to stop water sitting on the case ruining GoPro footage? Had a blob sitting in the middle of the lens which ruined what would have otherwise been some awesome swim footage!

Can people really be this incompetent... In my experience, yes - I've had spinal problems since 2008 and the only reason I was properly diagnosed is because I went private and sought out the treatments myself. This was because I was referred to the wrong specialist by my GP and so even following an...
