Missing Red H3 - A96

Sadly a Club H3 (Red) came off the top of a Hymer motorhome during the evening Friday 12th August whilst in transit between Kemnay and Huntly. We have scouted the roadside, unfortunately no sign and the incident has been reported to the Police (thnkfully No charges raised). The boat is marked with A...

Re: Repairs to Chinese Bridge - River Tay

Gents It is worth reminding padlers that the right is one of responsible access .... Effectively the bridge is now a construction site and from the photo it is clear that as yet no "Dropped Object" restraints are in place. Hence paddlers passing under the scaffold (particularly during construction) ...

Get in touch with Cults Canoe Club as they are planning a trip to Eastern Alps this summer and may be able to assist with transportation in return for some local knowledge and guidance.

Re: Whats the weirdest thing you have seen whilst paddling

Way back in student days, WWR training on the Don in Seaton, Aberdeen. Shot the weir to paddle down to the sea and back and half way down a diver popped his head up just about where my paddle was about to enter the water, not sure who got the bigger surprise. Turned out to be the police underwater s...

Re: Taxing Volunteers

I can think of a few reasons why they should be members: 1/ Liability Insurance, BCU Policy extends to members not non-members. An officer of the Union may be viewed as a legitimate target in a liability claim (e.g. Technical Officer in the event someone gets a shock from timing equipment). Remember...

May be worth finding out if anyone has access to the "BCU Approved Centres" specification as I remember there was something in there. Mainly limited to equipment in good condition (no holes/splits etc), fixed buoyancy, footrests and end loops.

Re: Scotlands artificial white water courses

They have the volume on the Tay to create a course with artificial or man made boulders, blocks etc. It would need the Fisherman and Owners to agree. This exists at Grandtully with natural obstructions - the problem is there are no controls on the flow At Glasgow green, they could put in boulders e...

Re: Calling Slalom paddlers, I need your help!

As a River runner - drop back to the original definition of slalom as "a test of skill, control and ability in moving water". Forget the racing and time element - you have to learn to walk before you run... Thereafter try setting basic courses and look to use the gates to make you work in the water,...
