Re: SCA drama

At best they would require an expensive re-drafting of the SCA Articles of Association, a requirement that is central to the proposals lead by the Board on SCA Re-structuring. So at best through debate the Members may provide an element of guidance on what could and should be changed. certainly more...

SCA Democratic Influence

A reminder to all that the SCA AGM is scheduled for Saturday 15th November, 2014. Venue and times still to be confirmed. At this AGM there will be a requirement to elect Board Members including General Secretary and Affiliated Club Director. It is not clear from published records if Ordinary Directo...

I asked Mike's sister :
That is easy.
Mike was dead before the book was published.
Once they had it Mum and dad were often at events where it was on sale and people would ask for their signatures.

Re: travelling to Briancon by plane train

Not sure why you are looking at Milan - better to look at Turin circa 2.5 hours away or Lyon 3.5 hours drive. I am sure if there are trains from Milan there will be trains from Turin only problem may be the route south then north.

Interesting to note that stance, considering the proposal has been around for 2-3 years and has been championed by the SCA River Advisor for the Dee who also has connections with the River Dee Improvement Board and also with commercial use through Adventure Aberdeen. To my knowledge it has never bee...

Not seen anything defined, but Gary G was out there skiing and raised questions with local tourist office as he noted Tigne Dam empty and the pipes dismantled. Didn't get much from Tourist Office but changed tack and queried rafting this summer, he was advised that they were hoping to be able to run...

Have another look and you will see plenty of evidence of gaffer tape it was well used at that time. the food tasting of fibre glass resin was down to a John Gosling/Mike Jones brainwave. Having written out looking for support they got various donations of support (hence the Dundee cake). However rat...

Guy before you get I into pontificating actually find out what the rules and statements state. The notice issued is the Notice of the AGM posted on the web site (about Us) and issued with Paddler. The Ballot Papers are circulated for that purpose - i.e. a Ballot, if position is uncontested there is ...

Re: New to rivers

Scottish Land reform Act provided rights of Access over inland waters (Rivers/Lochs/Lakes) in Scotland for non-motorised craft (canoes/kayaks/rafts). This precludes but does not exclude use by motorised craft (jet-skis, jet bikes, motor launches etc). Ideally you would need to get permission from ri...

Re: BCU Told to Put up or Shut up and Respect the law

Imagine if the courts convened and found that paddlers have no right to paddle rivers in the UK? This scares me! The situation is clearly stated in the Land Reform (Scotland) Act so the only debate is on opinion on law in England. No reason for the BCU to kowtow to the bluster of the Angling Trust....

So if t...

At the end of the day the BCU/SCA are Membersh...

Re: SCA / BCU - changes at the top - -

A few points for clarity: Election of SCA representatives to BCU Board is an SCA Board decision, not a membership election. This is common in many federated structures and was designed to protect the interests of the National Associations. The Board have the right to co-opt members or appoint member...
