If you're going to use the term "confrontational" you might want to think about the difference between protest and resistance; as is increasingly stated and recognised on this forum (and elsewhere) confrontation can just mean getting on and paddling (politely and assertively rather than aggresively...

Can you get w/proof covers that work with side airbags?
I have seen some decent looking heavy duty covers in Mole Valley so farm shops anywhere may be a good place to look?
