Re: Lost Dagger mamba - Afon Ogwen

Did you paddle to the sea? Possibly going to be stuck on an island on the 'lower' section i would think if you lost her on the gorge- worth a look anyway.

First C1

Thinking about going C1 due to a shoulder injury,

Playboat preferred, then Creek or Slalom,

Just after reccomendations of good boats to look for as a first c1.

Cheers

For Sale: 2009 Series Jackson Kayak Star

Hi folks, I have for Sale a 2009 Series Jackson Kayak Star The paddler that owned this boat 2009-2012 was injured, so it has only really been properly used for 1 year. In that year it has mostly been paddled at tidal play spots such as Stanley and that other Play spot in Anglesey that no one mention...

Shorty Cag issue

In anticipation of summer, im looking at buying a shorty cag at some point over the next 2 months. I have tried on a friends bomber gear cag, and had a minor problem of being totally unable to get the neck gasket over my head, the same issue I have with the new palm ones with the neo head gasket. Ca...

Re: s/xs resue pfd

How child sized? Im very short, and paddle with a group of very small people who are all in XS/S palm or peak uk pfd's with chest harness.

(By short, its climbing on cars to tie boats on short, and my playboat is an inch taller than me!)

Re: vyrnwy releasing

I paddled down to Pont Logel (intended to do the whole section but I overslept woops). It was *full* of trees, at one point there was a blue piece of water pipe across it the paddleable channel (portage), there was wire fencing dangling from the bridge which would be unpassable at high water, and wa...

Re: Stanley embankment

You want a high tide of above 8.0 in a long boat (ie Pyrhanna Inazone or similar), a tide of 8.7-9.4 (at liverpool alfred dock). I think its above 5.3 tide for holyhead tide times in a short boat. Above 9.4 (to 10 ish) it will still work, but the wave will get progressivley flushier and the boils be...

Re: River runner suggestions for a small paddler

Could I ask what is wrong with the GT? I know the fashion at the moment is for HUGE boats, but for me I have far more fun and control on G3 / not too big G4+s in my Inazone 220. Ickle I have a bit of a tendency to get munched on drops and stuck in stoppers that my (male) mates in bigger boats punch...

Re: River runner suggestions for a small paddler

As well, outfitting a boat for carrying makes it insanely easier to carry. This (for me) involves putting a webbing strap around the bulkhead, keeping your arm straight (skeletal link) while you are carrying, and paddling the shoulder so the boat is not digging on bone. Have someone show you how to ...

Re: River runner suggestions for a small paddler

My suggestion... coming from someone who brought a boat soley on the weight of it (Jackson Punk Rocker) is don't buy a boat based on the weight. I did, because I'd broken my back and wanted to get kayaking again quickly, however in hindsight, id have been much better spending longer on Physio/ stren...

FS: Slalom Boat to Suit 65-75kg paddler

Hi Im selling my 4m Double Dutch Slalom Boat. Not to sure on spec as it's an old (4m) boat. Would suit anyone 65-75kg, selling due to me not having time to race this year/ I am slightly too light for the boat anyway. It has one small hairline crack near the rear grab handle, but is watertight apart ...

Do you have previous coaching experience? If so you could probably APL to UKCC L2 training, do UKCC L2 assessment then moderate water endorsement to have same remit of level 3 but with out so much long term programme faff.
