Kingfisher CC Chris Wheeler Memorial Edition of The Trasher

We at Kingfisher Canoe Club Abingdon are putting together a Chris Wheeler Memorial Edition of The Trasher, the club`s newsletter. It`s focus will be mainly on the things he wrote for the club and the things we all did together over the years with photos, articles and reminiscences. We have plenty of...

Echo previous posts. The extra payment for sports equipment only entitles you to MAX of 32Kg without paying excess baggage per Kilo. 50 Kg isolute limit per person including per Kilo excess charge. We have always kept meticulously to the 32 Kg limit and it has gone like clockwork. Sometimes they wei...

Re: Argentiere a thief`s supermarket!!

Hmmmm and no one has yet questioned whether it should have been thief`s supermarket or thieve`s supermarket or perhaps even thieves` supermarket if indeed there was/were more than one thief (which of course there was/were, 6 men and a woman as previously noted). Now there`s a can of worms!!

Re: Argentiere a thief`s supermarket!!

6 men and one woman. Fact acccording to the Gendarmerie. What interesting interpretaions have been put on this, so contrary to my better judgement here are my thoughts on the matter. The blame lies with the perpetrators fairly and squarely We can reduce the likelihood of the event by locking kit awa...

After years of camping in the Alps and elsewhere and leaving my kit out overnight this is the first time this has happened to me. Okay, so maybe I had it coming for being too trusting but as Mark says, let`s be very clear where the blame lies. I will be taking more precautions in future even though ...

Argentiere a thief`s supermarket!!

Okay so I`ve learnt the hard way!! Last week there were apparently two raids on the campsite resulting in a lot of kit being taken on two separate nights. I lost a Sweet Rocker and Playboater deck but I heard that boats and other kit also went. Personally I would advise all to AVOIDthis campsite unt...

Thanxabunch Simon
Ubaye graph gives H, M and L levels for comparison from which I deduce itsa humpin now.
Seem to be no comparisons on the Durance gauge. Do we know what constitutes H.M, and L water on the Durance?
Am I becoming a gauge anorak?

Thanks for the info Stuart. Have also been looking on www.eauxvives.org for river levels. They seem to mention every river in France except the Hautes Alpes Durance Basin. Am I being stupid and cybernetically challenged or am I missing something?

Remember your sporting goods allowance only increases your total maximum allowance by 12Kg from 20 to 32 which is possible but tight to include boat, paddle and camping kit. Excess baggage is expensive per Kg. Easyjet are very good BUT you must stick to the rules. Read conditions and charges exactly...
