Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi Pete, As I have said we were one of those clubs that did have an agreement with the WCA/BCU in place, and thought it was a very fair agreement, and I do think you are in a stronger position than ever by tearing up such agreements, as now you are getting national coverage, but you must understand w...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi Paddlers, As I have said I am not Anti - Paddlers, and do not class, the rivers we lease as purley ours, I do not have all the answers to your questions. all can suggest is that you speak to the relevant E.A guys, going back to the Agreement we had with WCA, this was drawn jointly with both parti...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi Paddlers, Whatever happens through your petition to WAG, or wether we are told by them that we must sort out our differences through Access Agreements, can I just say that in the past when we did have an access agreement with WCA, it worked extremely well, with both parties respecting one another...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hello Paddlers, Can you answer me a question please, out of all the rivers in wales, we only lease and have access to approx 12 miles, so how does this make me at more of an advantage than you? remembering we also have to follow, strict rules and by laws put in place by the E.A. I honestly dont know...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi all, You asked, the question, I gave you my answers, Anglers do no go and fish over spawning grounds as this occurs in the closed season, and if they do so are prosecuted accordingly. You are complainig about access issues, and the small amounts of waters you can go on, if you stay off the spawni...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi again Rich, If you dont touch the gravels, you obviously wont damage the Redds, but you will scare the spawning fish away down river, and they are already stressed enough after their arduous trek up to the Spawning grounds. The seasonal spate is the act of nature, paddlers are not. The E.A have g...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi Rich, The reasons there has been no court action (yet), was the lack of evidence, the warning letters issued last year were given by the E.A, as a compromise for them preventing the environmental crime officer based at Bangor, from arresting the paddlers in question. But that is not to say that i...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi Pete, Yes I do feel proud, proud of our rivers, that is why I spend hours a week cleaning the banks, reporting pollution problems, catching poachers, assisting E.A Enforcement Officers, etc etc, I very rarely have time to go fishing as I am too busy doing the above, and on the odd occassions I do...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi All, You are right in what you say that the E.A SAFFA 1975 legislation was never intended, for the use against Paddlers, but that will still not exclude you from being prosecuted by it, and as for the warning letters recieved by the paddlers from Bangor uni, you can tame them down as much as you ...

Re: Fishermen and environment

The SAFFA 1975, applies to all, and you do not have to prove wilfull, as long as you make the offenders aware of it before they enter the waters, and that includes Anglers, poachers , Canoeists, Kayakers, rafters and Gorge Walkers, there were four warning letters isuued via E.A Enforcement Officers la...

Re: Fishermen and environment

Hi All, Interesting comments.bit one sided though, you seem to be completley anti Anglers and Clubs, has it ever crossed your minds that some of us do actually protect the rivers, and put in a lot of voluntary time and effort in doing so, if we are all so intent on damaging the rivers/ environment a...
