You could also take a look at the Romany Excel http://britishseakayaks.co.uk/romany-excel/. Great playful sea kayak and you're in the ideal weight range. I've got one available for demo.

Happy paddling, Rick

I'd suggest contacting Steve Jones at Sea Trek Kayaks. http://www.seatrekkayaks.com/coastal-guiding/ Very good guide, fully qualified and knows the areas where you want to paddle well.

West Cornwall Sea Kayak Meet 17-19th June 2016

This should be a great event - lots of fun on and off the water and between us we should raise some much-needed funds for the RNLI. If you want to boost the kitty still further check out British Sea Kayaks - we are pledging extra cash with a little help from our friends!

Re: Spraydeck recommendations, please

Hi Jonathan Have you tried the Aquatherm decks from Reed/Chillcheater? They're a very good alternative to latex, totally dry and durable for the time span you are looking for. One thing to be aware of is that if you are doing lots of rescue practice that entails putting sea kayaks across your cockpi...

Hi Folks

Sorry for the re-post but I realised there was a bit of info missing on the website - it's now updated with correct pricing.

For paddlers in Devon and Cornwall there's a March "mates-rates" offer running - get 5 boats together and it'll cost you just £55 each!

Hey Steve Yes, the rest of the demo fleet will be here next week ready for the Easter break. Lovely shiny kayaks, including the brand-new models in the range - the Pulse, Latitude, Inuit and the Romany Surf RM (Hybrid). Of course, the other well-known boats will all be here too brimming with custom ...

Hi Folks We all love summer but so do the scum that will be trying to spoil your day by stealing your stuff. Car roofracks are risky places to leave a boat and we see all sorts of ways used to prevent kayak theft. So stop your kayak from being stolen - it's a pain to try to get it back even if you c...

Re: Good boat for surfing and short coastal days?

NDK Romany Surf RM - it's a single-layer plastic hull with GRP cockpit rim and seat, eliminates flexing in the areas where you brace. Lots of volume and plenty of rocker, fab in the surf and easy to turn in tight spots, designed for just the sort of activity you've described. Not to be confused with...

New Sea Kayak dealer for NDK in Southwest

Hi all British Sea Kayaks, based in Plymouth I'm the new dealer for Sea Kayaking UK in the south of England and Wales. As some of you will already know, Nigel Dennis has designed sea kayaks that have been considered the benchmark for many years. There are new boats in the range but you'll still find...

You could also look at an NDK Romany Surf - it's a seriously good boat for rough water and surf. It's suitable for anyone of medium build and bigger, and you get to choose any colour you fancy for no extra cost. Mine just happens to be all black and Carbon/Kevlar but I also opted for a recess in the...

Hi Andy I paddle quite often in France and can confirm that there are actually very many sea kayakers. Hi all I've spent the last six years being a "it's no big deal" amputee paddler. I'd be happy to give some time to academic research projects if it will help other amputees to get paddling. However I'd also like to express an opinion about a recent post appealing for volunteers for a research projec...

As already mentioned by OPs, Kokatat offer a hybrid PFD known as the SeaO2 that has positive foam buoyancy as well as an inflatable bladder. It's not CE marked and therefore unavailable in the UK (to the best of my knowledge) but if you can stand the import duty it's readily available though outfitt...

Re: Hat for a windy day

Put your helmet on (cos if you're carrying it around you might as well wear it). You can wear it over a thin baseball cap (gives a peak if you don't have one on your helmet) or a Reed Beanie for a bit of warmth, or even a thin skull cap (Nookie Ti-Skull or similar) if you are doing lots of rolling. ...
