Re: Liffey Descent Training

For anyone who's interested here's a river guide to the course Glad to see someone trying to learn river safety before the event, I've seen some dangerous stuff from competitions. I think the best (worst?) was a K2 crew attempting to swim into some submerged trees to try and recover their boat which...

Re: SND Kayak shop?

Saw a set of them paddles break in the exact same way, in similar circumstances as described on first or second day of use! They were also from SND who in fairness replaced them straight away.

Re: Glasses vs Contacts vs Laser surgery vs nothing

Just had the Laser surgery yesterday and within an hour I was happy with the results (could see perfectly). Only problem is they have told me not to paddle for a month! Last October I was out in a group with 6 beginners and 2 experienced paddlers, river is largely flat with a few weirs. On the first weir one of the beginners lost their paddles. So I gave her mine to get down the ri...

Re: Dagger G Force 6.1 - Am I too big?

I'm 70kg, (upper end of 6.1s range), and I do find that it can act like a sqirt boat a lot of the time. It's very conformable and fits perfectly but tends to submerge a lot, particularly when ferry gliding, or going through a hole. The next size up on the other hand is way to big for me, I paddled i...

Re: Helmets for Large Headed Folks...

I had a similar problem with the Lee- the only lids i could find that fitted me was the Yak Kontor and the XL Rocker- given the amount of different replies you've had, I think your best option is to go to a shop with a good selection and buy the one that fits you. Not the one someone on the Internet...
