Re: New rivers

39 in 4 years. Almost 10 new rivers a year, and I'd say evenly enough spread over those 4 years, long may that continue!

There's a good few more though if you count sections (i.e. Is the Durance one river or can it be broken up into Briancon Gorge, Upper, Druance Gorge, Slalom site, Sun run etc.?)

How many weeks before and after the festival are likely to have water? or is the season that short that getting water a week or so either side is "lucky"?

Re: Roy Gorge - reminder of changes to river

Hi, How far down is the second siophion? I've only paddled the roy once and it was at a very high level so passed over the first siphon that used to be headbanger but was made aware of were it was by someone in the group who knew the river. Going up to fort bill again next weekend and would love to ...

Was on Horseshoe to Town falls two weeks back and encountered several fishermen, all of whom were pleasant and waved back as us as we passed quietly by!

I asked the same question a while back and plenty of good advise - http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/foru ... =3&t=80547

Hope you get more water then us though, we were limited to a scrape on the Dee and the Tryweryn due to low water levels.

Re: Flying to the Zambezi

That time last year Ethiopian were about £400 cheaper then that. They did manage to mislay my boat and paddles for about a week though. (It was the fault of the luggage handlers in Heathrow, they wouldn't let me bring it to oversized luggage myself and they left it just inside the door into the lugg...

Cheer for all the suggestions, that website is great.

In terms of grading I suppose most people are suggesting their own favorite rivers which are probably generally about 4. Which rivers are the beat grade 3s?

North Wales advise wanted!

Hi all, There is a group of us from Ireland heading over to North wales for a long weekend in September and we are looking for advise on what rivers we should look to paddle. Long shot but did anyone find a gray IR cag and an IR thermal on the get off to the lower gusiane (the one up behind McDonalds)? I left them behind a few days ago and would appreciate if I could get them back! The durance gorge was getting a bit low yesterday 0.4 on the gauge which is apparently the...

I had it done and was in Uganda exactly a month later is what the doctor told me was the minimum I should leave it. ( he was aware what I'd be doing). I'd agree with whats said above, Zam is a better and more challenging river (although the biggest and hardest rapids on the Nile are bigger than anything on the zam, but most mere mortals like myself wouldn't consider running them!), but Uganda definitely wins at just being a cool place to be and go...

Hoped in a rental boat on the soca and didn't bother adjusting the outfitting as it was "only grade 2" so of course I promptly took my first swim in over 2 years!
