I find pogies make a huge difference to how my hands feel when paddling on cold / windy days.

Sounds like gloves may have been restricting the blood flow.

The fish steps on the weir above viaduct have a tree wedged down the side, but branches are also sticking out midflow which will not be obvious at high water, but could still snag a boat...

New trees in horseshoe drop, one of which won't show at decent flows, but goes right across.f

Another shortly after the start will also be covered at high water, although a couple of others will cause issues then, especially the hanging branches just above take out...

That SEPA map looks useful. I like weatheronline as it shows you how much has fallen across the country in last 6, 12, 24, 48 & 72 hour periods, but only updates at 6am, noon, 6pm & midnight (GMT). There are currently several trees totally blocking the river - right in front of the Rockford Inn (1st pic), just above Double Drop (2nd) & further down near a footbridge. Friday - Tawe moors at 2.2 on gauge (several videos on South Wales kayakers FB page), Usk from sennybridge, where we had to duck under the metal bridge before it was buried in trees next day. West & upper dart on Saturday.

3 blasts is also recognised internationally, hence my mention of multiple.

Maybe more paddlers should join the rescue teams to educate them on what we do (I know Dartmoor already have)...
