Signs inaccurate and not needed. Please remove these eyesores from the river.

Re: Best paddle of the year was...???

Best of the year was a low level Usk Sennybridge to Aberbran farm in March. Oops just realised that was 2011! So, it has to be my 2nd low level run of the Upper Dart with Chris Eastabrook and 2 UD newbies at Rivers Source in November. Made me realise how much I'd achieved with getting good miles un...

Re: Best paddle of the year was...???

Thanks for reminding me Dan! I was torn between first time on the Upper Dart, something in my first trips to the Alps or Scotland, then I realised... Best of the year was a low level Usk Sennybridge to Aberbran farm in March. Why on earth?! Because it was my first time back on WW after my year out, ...

Great fun, and I totally agree with Wilf about it improving paddling and accuracy. Coaching helps as well.

Mark

You talked on another thread about using 188's. I'm only 5'0" tall and am using 192's so I suspect you may have gone too short, and be rolling the boat from side to side as a result.

So the EA have changed their tune from what was said in November: typical! From the newspaper report at the time http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/Angler-accuses-Environment-Agency-endorsing-mass/story-17326341-detail/story.html The Environment Agency dismissed Mr Mountjoy's criticisms. Re: Support your local Kayak shop

Chris, I always found Paddleworks an enjoyable visit, and rarely went through Llangollen without popping in to look at what was there. Last time I was swayed by a PeakUK semidry cag at a great price. Didn't really need it, but the colour matched my boat! Proved absolutely ideal in the Alps, so certa...

Re: What boat should my girlfriend buy?

Wow, Pete, wish I'd known about you/you were around when I was demoing: in 2008 we based a whole holiday around Brookbank Stockport, Knoydart (and possibly would have visited Karitek although before we got there I'd made my mind up). At least then the holiday could get onto a firmer footing, and hus...

Re: What boat should my girlfriend buy?

At 5'0" I had great fun trying to get a sea kayak a few years ago, and ended up with a Tiderace XPloreS.
Since then the Isel and several other smaller peoples kayaks were developed.
All I can suggest is demo, demo, demo! The "ideal" on paper turned out to feel like a barge.

Re: Support your local Kayak shop

I generally do ask for a discount, because I have been led to believe that that was something that was offered to canoe club members. Does that make me a bad person? I just felt it allowed me to spend more money eventually. However, I did try asking for discount in a camera shop once as a camera clu...

Please can I paddle the Upper Dart with my mate Buck, cause I don't think he's a wuss. He's just good at talking himself out of things :-)

PS I'd also like a Peak Creek drysuit!

Re: LADIES PADDLE SYMPOSIUM 27th-28th April 2013

As someone who is learning at a slightly later age than most, and gradually pushing my grade, I like to feel really confident in my paddling. I'm happy to paddle with guys, but do find some of them fairly gung-ho, especially in a peer group setting. I do feel that females think differently to males,...

If you take the tubing off, give it to a female friend with pee-zip type drysuit.

The tubing makes a good she-wee extension!

I had thought of velcro, but was worried it might come undone in a capsize, and be a snag hazard. If its OK for Mr Laws, though..... Throwbag repair

Hi all I have an older Nookie throwbag, and the press stud fastening rusted through (we now avoid using our new bags in our local tidal river). The bag and rope are perfectly serviceable, and it would be useful to carry as a second bag. Can anyone recommend somewhere that could replace the press stu...
