FS Watershed Ocoee drybag

I have a Watershed Ocoee drybag in excellent condition for sale (£65 new). Only used twice for very short periods: doesn't fit in my kayak well, and I struggle with the closure. (I hate this getting older lark!). Looking for £55 +P&P or collect from Sussex. Send me a PM! I will be in N.Wales soon, s...

Re: Advice for new starter, please

Personally I'd wear a buoyancy aid anywhere: the only groups of kayakers who don't are racers (usually very experienced) and surf kayakers (again very experienced). I vale my life very highly, and it just feels normal to wear one. If you venture on more challenging water later, I'd also recommend a ...

Do you mean approaching the stern from the side or rear? Does anyone have a video of this type of rescue? .....The video is good. Hope this helps. Debbie Apart from the fact that I seem to have had a sex- and name-change, this was useful, and confirmed what I thought you were talking about! Janet

Re: Hook and Roll Re-entry

A much better rescue for us is the swim on the back deck and then corkscrewing around back into the cockpit. It's been around for many years and was the first rescue taught to us. For a creature of his size, the kicking of his legs on the surface of the water enables him to ease himself gracefully ...

Re: Hook and Roll Re-entry

The hook and roll works fine in a sea kayak, but no use in a WW/GP boat with central buoyancy pillar. I suspect many of your paddlers have come from this sort of background?

I generally wear a long sleeved thermal rashy, possibly with a long sleeved fleece as well if I'm feeling a bit like a wuss.
And yes, water does soak up quickly if you take a swim!

Re: New paddler looking for some help please

I started out with a cheap just-about-dry-cag, and long john wetsuit which never gets used now. Fairly soon went up to a better, but not that good Yak dry cag and trousers cause they were cheaper. After 2 years not particularly heavy wear, these were leaking, so I got Palm dry cag and trousers which...

I had the same problem with the British Trampoline Federation years ago, and their argument was that you weren't keeping up with current coaching concepts. I had to pay for the 4-5 years I'd let my membership lapse to remain "current" without retraining. They didn't send me the 4-5 years worth of ma...

The only snag we find with the Dynamo at our club is that it is quite difficult to keep in a straight line, so maybe not ideal for a complete beginner. The better tracking of a Perception Dancer XS seems to work better for complete newbies! One of our juniors continued paddling a club Dancer until a...

Daffers Have you dared yet? I seem to have a fantastic pool session roll, that doesn't translate to the river. I paddled the Loop once in Dec 2009, then, after a year out of paddling, 3 times in Dec 2011 (all in a L'il Joe) and then once in January 2012 in my new creek boat (Zet Veloc). Last weekend...

Porridge for breakfast
Geobars or chocolate brunch bars for snacks
Egg or tuna rolls for lunch: essential to carry on a club trip as the usual 2 hours can take 5!
Flask of hot ribena cause tea tastes foul from a flask!
