Lost: G-force on the Greta
Today the greta was massive, the bridge just after the keswick pencil museum had only a foot gap to get under and the get in was basically flooded fields. The boat that was lost was a G-Force 5.9 blue urban camo, it was lost at the small bridge with the hole on river right, it was seen floating here...

River Lowther
Paddled it in spate today, all well and good, there is a large tree blocking 3/4's of the right hand passage in the rapid just after the get- in at Askham Bridge. All of the river is paddleable in spate and nothing is deadly. The water does flow really fast, very little eddies and hard to inspect bu...

As Chris says where are the BCU? Tamsin phipps normally posts on here, although normally on access. It's true that there sould be more interaction, ie. letters, an e-mail newsletter or just if someone from the BCU just occassionally had a look on the site. Just a question though - has anyone raised...

Safety at events
Just wondered who did the safety at whitewater events. I know at slalom the coaches along the side carry throwlines and the first competitor waits for the next at the bottom of the course. But do the BCU lifeguards cover events? All the paddlers there carry throwlines? Who are the people on live bai...

I usually shove one of these in the back of my boat or in my rucksack for mountain leading, it folds up tiny, takes two seconds to put on and weighs only 95grams. http://www.mountainmagic.com/equipment/climbing/climbing-section-item/harness/camp-xlh95.htm More comfortable than a sling and only needs...

nickcrowhurst I understand tottally what you are saying, and the authorities will be contacted before hand. okay - let me clarify The event is going to be a group of paddlers in the fountain, posing for pics, talking to the public and raising awareness - it also grabs media attention and makes people say "oohh! what are they up to?" therefore drawing people over to have a look. They then talk to the paddl...
