FS - KariTek J cradles with all fittings

Hi - I have a pair of Kari-tek J-cradles surplus to requirements. These have seen little use and are complete with all fittings to attach them to standard roof bars. If you don't know these cradles, this is the link to the Kari-tek website: http://www.karitek.co.uk/shop.html?page=shop.product_detail...

Re: Calling Solent

Down here in the South of France where I live now there are strict rules as to what kayakers can do and how far from a safe point we can go and I agree with them too. I think there should be laws back in the UK to make kayaking safer and help save lives. I'd be interested to know what form these la...

Valley - model customer service!

On Monday night I arrived home with a new boat, a second hand Valley Aquanaut. I had no info about the boat other than the Valley details & serial number glassed into the cockpit. The skeg slider mechanism was seized solid and she needs a little gel coat repair / TLC. By mid-morning on Tuesday the g...

Re: Kayak couriers for boats over 3.5m

No bother - I'm travelling up with boat carriers on the car roof in order to collect a sea kayak close by you - seems a pity to travel north empty! I'll not have too much spare time on my drive though but happy to meet anyone at any junction / services etc from J37 heading north.

I'm travelling from the south Lakes (M6 J37 area) to East Kilbride on Monday morning (will be at J37 around 0900, East Kilbride from midday until about 1330). If you could get the boat to me over the weekend / J37 at 0900 Monday, I'd be happy to bring it up with me. PM me with contact details if any...

FS Otterbox waterproof housing for iPhone3

Anybody fancy this? My used but fully functional waterproof Otterbox housing (black) for an iPhone3 - £20 posted (in the UK). Re: beach pebbles jamming skeg

I always check my skeg slider as soon as I'm in my boat (and usually from a floating start). If it's jammed at least I know that and can get it sorted either by getting a mate to jiggle the cord (threaded through the skeg and knotted each side of the blade as described by Ian) or, if solo, just jump...

Sadly this does seem to be the way of a lot of these "adventure races" are going with entry costs outweighing the fees being offered to those willing to turn out for the day (it's not 3-4 hours by the time you've packed kit, travelled, registered, been briefed, etc, etc) to provide the organisers wi...

Just to let you know that the propietor of the garage at Greenodd has moved on and the site is soon to be occupied by a new business. Flat tyres - Kent egress

Hi all Not wanting to steal anyone's thunder but I just took a call from a paddling mate asking for assistance as I live fairly close by. It seems that, after paddling and having had a discussion with a person on the banks of the Kent, he returned to find all four tyres on his car were flat. I'm not...

The raft guide in charge of our recent canyon trip brought a 'cheap' inflatable board along and it saw quite a bit of use (I utterly failed to get it anywhere near the playwave when I tried, and then had a nightmare in the eddy where I got wrapped up in the leash), up until the point where the wind...

Yea the Grads certainly look less bulky - and are definitely lighter in weight. That said my last pair of Canyoneers saw me through 2 summers of almost daily coasteering in Orkney as well as usual WW & OC boating the rest of the time. And they were 2 years old before I went north! I just used them f...

Ant - I found the /Gradients really narrow compared to Canyoneers: I'm currently going through my third pair of Canyoneers but gave away a pair of Gradients because of the narrow fit.. If you haven't tried the Canyoneers and are used to Gradients I suggest you make certain to try before you buy (if ...
