Re: Greenland paddle

Nicholas you can find guide to GP size on this site:

http://www.qajaqusa.org/QK/makegreen2.pdf

If you are making the paddle yourself its worth making it 2" longer, and a little wider if you have big hands. You can always cut it down shorter at a later date.

Have a look at the Karrimor ones at Sports Direct

They are identical to Exped drybags and cheaper than the Alpkit ones.

Excellent kayak, loads of storage, handles well and goes in a straight line with skeg down. He will be better looking at the smaller/medium version as he's slim. Check out Neptunes Rangers to see how they perform in rough stuff and customizing too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCk2CUPzoY4 Good lu...

Re: 1st boat advice - plastic or composite

Try lots of boats out if you can; when you feel happy in one it will be irrelative whether it's plastic or composite. Buy second hand; kayaks retain their value better than cars, so you won't lose out too much if you decide to sell on and upgrade when you are more experienced. Avoid older boats thou...

Re: Teaching in the Devon -Ivy bridge area

Hi Barny
Try contacting the Local Education Authority direct, they often have a supply register, which you may have to have a medical and interview to get on, but once you are on it you'll get full supply rate.

And join a teachers Union too. Good Luck.

Ade Have a play with the free Kayak Foundry program from http://www.blueheronkayaks.com/ . It's possible to design a chined boat using it, but you will still need to get the forms cut out and set up on a strongback and then use this to make a pattern for your ply panels. It will also give you a good...

From the N Wales Kayak Fishing forum: My husband bought a kayak online three or four weeks ago (a seller on Ebay, one with good feedback and many sales of kayaks and kayak related gear). Is epoxy more abrasive resistant than polyester or vinylester? Not on its own, but if you add graphite powder http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/p-1724-west-system-423-graphite-powder.aspx it makes the final hardened resin more slippery and scuff resistant. Only problem is it only comes in one c...

Well Ade, I've had Pentax + Canon 'action' cameras and they last an average life of 2 years if that, so I take a cheap bridge camera now in a waterproof bag for decent pics. Argos nearly always have one on offer for around £100 I'm going to try the http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_...

Air bags for Pyranha Fusion

I am pimping my boat up with extra decklines and elastics and want to add extra buoyancy to the bow, it's the original large Fusion.
There's such a selection of airbags out there I'm grateful for advice from anyone who has fitted them for which ones are best suited.
Thanks
