Re: RIVER TAVY (Tavistock to Denham Bridge)

It was low but doable on Wed. There is some rain forecast over the next few days not much but might be enough to run it.

Re: BBC 2 tonight 9pm

As I thought that the film explained/made clear very effectively right from the start, judging MacAuley's decisions and choices using our conventional values and attitudes is to miss the point completely. They simply didn't apply to him; his whole psyche was coming from somewhere else completely. H...

On climbing front you don't need permission but you do need to stay within the nesting restrictions. The restrictions run from April 1st to July 31st inclusive and are subject to continual review. Best to contact the shore office. Once on the island ask the wardens about your planned venues. Its blo...

Ive used them on rivers and in the sea the sole has good traction so far. Even had a long portage to the put in on one river all good. Just worry about being lace ups but tie them then tuck the lace into the shoe no worries so far

Re: Which paddle leash?

I did much the same as Mike B after seeing his post. I'm also part squirrel:)

Now have one that clips onto a velcro strap on the paddle with line on the deck. I like to tinker with stuff. I find Its more satisfying to cobble your own together.

Drain bungs

Just thought I would share this. I recently had the drain bung in my kayak drop out.. It fell straight into the river and was gone. My mate had a spare so didn't need to jam in a bit of stick etc. I though that's a bloody good thing to carry so off I went to the Kayak shop, £7 for one bung. I notice...

Re: Pinned boat at wier on River Walkham

Hi Can you confirm its the weir approx 2-3 km down river from Horrabridge? I walked the dog down from Bedford Bridge to the slot drop today, and there is no boat at the weir on that stretch. I saw two guys in a dingy asked them to keep an eye out for it they where off to Lopwell dam.

Re: What has happened to low water rock bashing?

My first boat was a Necky, Gliss. It was absolutely bombproof I smashed it of every rock going. Never seemed to get any gouges just scuffs. Unfortunately I was to heavy for it so had to get a bigger volume boat, Now my new boat just seems to graze rocks and there are a few gouges on it... Bought a R...

Re: What has happened to low water rock bashing?

In essence it is. My statement might be broad brush but the core of it is true. Look at the common men's razor. In generations before my Granddads you bought a cut throat razor it lasted you a life time. Now you by disposable the blades, they last about a weeks, pack of five 5 weeks. Say at cost of ...

Re: What has happened to low water rock bashing?

What has happened to low water rock bashing? If boats break on the them the boats are gash...once again. Topo led the way I'd have thought manufucturers would want to imporove on a product, not change it into a more breakable design to assist us in emptying our pockets more regularly. Its a consume...

There was still deep drifts up on the north moors around Princetown yesterday. Thats the West Darts main catchment area. If the temp increases on the moors enough to let it melt you might be lucky... Dont hold your breath though...
