Re: Cranked or 0 dergree feather

I have a long high, stroke and use a lot of trunk rotation when paddling forwards. I find it much easier to low/high brace as i don't have to twist the non-control hand to get the blade at the right angle to the water because i don't have a control hand, both hands control the paddle. No-one has eve...

Re: Cranked or 0 dergree feather

How about this? Zero feather paddle:- Take hold of paddle with both hands, paddle. Feathered paddle:- Take hold of paddle with both hands, paddle with right hand, twist right wrist to put the left blade in the right position whilst releasing left hand grip to allow the paddle shaft to rotate, grip w...

Re: Zero Feather Paddles Campaign

[My logic is that the boat, the water and most people are symmetrical. So we either need a symmetrical paddle, or an asymmetric (feathered) paddle with an asymmetric (control hand) paddling action.
Well said Chris.

If you use cranks, feather makes even less sense.

Tees!
After a long time of not doing anything challenging, it was a huge relief to find out that I could still paddle :-)

Can anyone explain why Archimedes screws are used for electricity generation rather than a Pelton wheel?

Club attendances.

We've reached the end of our summer season and rather worryingly we've had the quietest ever. Even the Olympic effect only brought one new member. The weather has been pretty grim in the North West but we've had bad years before and never had so few people turn up.
What's your experience this year?

Levens (Lake disrict)

Ran down the Levens yesterday and exited near the weir just beyond the Motor museum. As we were climbing out a chap approached to ask us to try not to damage the paintwork on the guardrail as we lifted the boats over. Apparently the maintenance chap is getting a bit miffed touching it up. There are ...

I've had mine for 7 years now and bought them because of elbow problems. They worked and I wouldnt use anything else now. Whatever happened to doing something because you enjoyed it? LTPD?

This is a simple sport/activity and the vast majority do not need massive ammounts of coaching to progress.
