Re: Companies that rock

Snowcard.

I had to cancel a 'trip of a lifetime' type holiday in Nepal just before Christmas for medical reasons- and I got the cheque yesterday. They've received, processed and paid my claim in less than a week- amazing!

Jeff Allen? He's got a multitude of trips to choose from, it's his area of the country (well almost), and he's entertaining. Or Simon Osbourne- ditto.

However, I will only attend if you can get Seth Lakeman to play in person this time (and I'll bring spare knickers for throwing) :) He can have a pair of my pants too if that'll help pursuade him?! John, your pants will certainly tip the balance. Whether to our favour, I'm not so sure! My pants dul...

Re: SW/ South Devon get-together 09?

How about an informal 'Gene17 APWE' style sea paddling get-together? Staying as far away from the 'S-word'-style formal coaching & BCU orientated event as possible? Mark & I missed the first one, so I'd imagine we'd be up for coming to one this year...

Re: Ribs, ooh, ouch, arrggh

Hope the ribs get better soon Mark- ouch... One tiny thing you might want to bear in mind: I was recently prescribed Co-codamol 30/500 and it made me feel (and occasionally be) horribly, horribly sick permanently all the time I was taking it- which apparently is a common side effect of the codeine. ...

Chris, that's perfect. As someone who's had a real whistlestop tour of the grading system in the last 3 years, that sums it up exactly for me. It's remarkably similar to the winter climbing grading system- subjective, and dependent on the conditions on the day. The only thing I'd add: standing on th...

No it doesn't- not any more.

You don't need an ocean cockpit on a sea kayak these days- buy a decent spraydeck instead!

Palm called me yesterday: drysuit repaired (panel replaced) in less than 24 hours, and I should get it back tomorrow. That's less than 2 weeks for the whole business.

Fair enough.

Don't get me wrong- I wasn't intending to be critical, I was just curious about the scope of the book.

I do like the order that you've placed the processes in: they feel a bit like the 'layers' that make up what we see, and I suppose they also roughly cover layers of time, too.
