Re: twitter river updates??

Good job Mark G- I can understand how much time you've probably spent on this. I don't really get Twitter, but I do like the RSS feed thingy for Firefox- makes it much easier! Thanks :0)

The point is everyone's back safe and well (ish)- and sounds like the guys dealt with the situation really well.

Mark G- better not mention that to the new GF, or it sounds like you'll not be allowed to do another one!! ;0)

I did search for last week's programme, which shows up on the BBC website, but is not on the iPlayer. I'm not holding my breath! Thanks for trying, though.

Searched the channel list for Freeview, Virgin Media and the iPlayer last night, but no luck- it seems you can't get the adventure show if you live outside Scotland.

Re: Wondering why we're enjoying another crap summer?

Crap summer?? Sorry I must have blinked and mist the bad weather. Been fine where I am; until today. Me too! We've had a few heavy rain showers, but personally I've had a cracking summer so far. Flat calm sunny sea paddling in Northumberland, and nigh-on perfect hillwalking weather in the Lakes and...

It's just sea fog. Warm moist air mixes with cooler air, moisture condenses = fog. Down to the temperature differential between land and sea, as I understand it.

Re: Scotland - the other side^

The north-facing coastline between Spey Bay and Fraserburgh was my first 'proper' (read overnight) sea trip. We went there because the forecast was too bad for the West Coast, and it was absolutely stunning. Big cliffs, lovely villages, beautiful beaches, and (a bit like the North East England coast...

I would beg to disagree. Both of my sea kayaks so far have been Valley boats, and their build quality, customer care and general all-round-good-people-ness has been fantastic.

Mike Webb is indeed a lovely bloke- but the Valley team are great, too.

Error/ Typo in South West Sea Kayaking

We paddled the 'East Exmoor' stretch of coast described in South West Sea Kayaking on Sunday, and luckily figured out that there is an error in the text before getting on the water- otherwise it could well have been quite hard work! The text and the diagrams both show the East-going stream beginning...

Hi,

The boat has, provisionally, gone. However if there are any issues with the prospective buyer I'll get back to you. It's a standard Valley keyhole cockpit- have a look at their website for specific sizes.

I'm pretty sure we camped there, on the grass above the slipway. We were greeted by the residents of the nearest house (I think it's a holiday cottage) brandishing 2 large mugs of tea. Now that's the kind of welcome I like!

We've had high pressure for a few days, and the atmosphere is doing funny things to the VHF radiowaves. It's regularly possible for ATC to pick up aircraft that are several hundred miles away (around the curvature of the earth), so 65nm isn't that far, really. The waves bounce off the tropopause, an...

Valley Sea Kayaks Argonaut aka Aquanaut HV

For sale, as seen in 3 Pesda Press books (sorry, I had to..!): Valley Argonaut (now known as an Aquanaut HV), Signal Red deck, white hull, black seam. Has brand new hatch covers and deck elastics (bright blue), and a removable compass. I'll also throw in a flare tube as I modified the backrest so it...

Taking a boat on a Ryanair flight is seriously easy- you just select 'canoe' or 'kayak' in the sporting equipment bit, pay your money and bob's your uncle. Michael O'Leary may be a single-minded money-grabbing b*****d, but he knows how to make life simple!

Yesterday I got an email from someone saying: Hi Zoe This is a quick note to let you know that I’ve taken over the editorship of Paddles on a temporary basis (only for two issues). I’ve been given your details as a possible contributor and w...
