Re: making hip pads

New pic Pete. Ah, sorry: a misunderstanding. Yes - it is a new profile pic. I ran into Paula Volkmer at HPP a while ago and when we got chatting, she told me she hadn't recognised me at all and had expected me to have ginger hair. I figured I'd put up something more recent - in this case from the E...

Re: making hip pads

It's pretty simple to do properly. Bubble wrap doesn't last, and cheap karrimat compacts badly. Both those solutions will last for a few sessions, but you're better off with minicell foam. You don't need much to do it properly - serrated knife (normally a breadknife), coarse sandpaper, contact adhes...

Re: How do you kickflip?

I originally saw Ed Cornfield doing the biggest kickflips I've ever seen in Norway many years ago, and from seeing the first one I've spent many many hours learning how. Here's my advice. Nick - you're a hero. Thanks for wrapping that all up into one post for me - and great video! I remember the sa...

Re: How do you kickflip?

Sorry - should have specified. Definitely kickflip over a wave (though I'm sure it's the same initiation). I think I'm getting it, but it's that transition between the pump and what would be a smash for a wave wheel that I'm not getting doing properly. Good explanation, Freddie! Just needs a bit of ...

How do you kickflip?

OK - I need some help on this one. I just can't get my head around kickflips. Was chatting with a friend about this yesterday, and - despite his perfectly clear conceptual explanation - I just couldn't grasp how to get the move to flow. I can wavewheel no problem, I can backdeck roll no problem, and...

And - from further up this page - it isn't coming out in 2011 either!

I reckon you should go the full Storry and put a sunny looking pic from Corsica on the cover ;-)

Give the centre a call on 01678 521 083. They'll have been stuck underwater on the chipper, and someone may well have picked them up and handed them in when they turned the water off.

Green Jackson Allstar 08 - good condition - £400

Right - time to sell my Allstar. It hasn't had much use, to be honest, and comes with all the outfitting gubbins they come with. It's an 08 model: cross-link plastic and a lot lighter than the new linear boats. I'm after £400. If you want pics, drop me a line with your email address. I'll get some a...

I paddled there on the Saturday - felt like a good job well done. There's obviously a way still to go with setup (there always is with adjustable courses) but there's loads more potential than there's ever been before. The staff were super helpful and really enthusiastic about the mods, which goes a...

Checking out the Egua (which was running high), we met a couple of Russians who were hauling up from the take-out. We asked how the level was, and the chap answered, 'It's very f*ckable.' To this day I still have no idea what he was trying to say.

Re: Where do you store your boat(s)?

I bought a well-loved 20 foot shipping container for about £600 delivered from Geraint the Container just outside Ruthin. Some might say they don't look great, but I got it repainted green (to match the postbox) and now you'd barely notice it's there.

Any help?

Hi George, Think I might have just the boat for you. I've got more details up here (http://downtimekayaks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=741). http://www.pilcrow.co.uk/resources/bigfoot34.jpg It's a shred-cut Bigfoot, and it'll be the right cut for your weight.
