Hi I haven't paddled it but had similar thoughts. We cycled up the path beside it. Cross the dam/bridge via the private road and follow the track along the Loch and up the river valley. There wasn't much water when I was there and it can be awkward to get from the path to see the river due to boggin...

Barle levels

Barle and Exe were bank full and out of their banks in places on sunday. Water was flowing over the centre of Tarr Steps. More rain fell on sunday than forecast. This will probably run off fairly quickly but should make it not too much of a scrape for at least a few days.

Barle access from Withypool?

Does anyone know what the access situation is on the Barle from Withypool to Tarr Steps? Is it environmentally sensitive so that it is best avoided? Is it paddled, and if so, how strong are the objections?

It has adjustable peg footrests which are a standard fitting on Dynamos. I have also PM'd you my contac...

Midges at the Tryweryn

Are the midges out at the Tryweryn yet? If so, does anyone have any recommendations of campsites in the area that are not midgy?

If your training has recently expired or is about to expire before you can arrange an assessment it is worth asking the BCU for an extension. Give them reasons that you have not yet done the assessment. If you have a specific date when you could be assessed tell them. They were reasonable with me. A...

£40 for transporting a boat?

How about £40 to cover the cost of fuel to bring the boat to Bristol area from N. Wales? Any takers if you're going up anyway?

Anyone coming to Bristol from North Wales?

I need to collect a boat from North Wales and get it to Bristol. Is there anyone travelling from N. Wales to the Bristol area over the next week or two and willing to carry a boat, please? The boat will pay towards fuel costs.

I have an old Derwent Starmaker slalom K1. Weight range up to around 12 stone. It has been repaired but is still sound. Price £30. I have kept it since stopping slalom quite a few years ago. I live in Bristol. Let me know if you want any information about it.

Emergency egress and the law

If you need to evacuate a casualty or remove kit from a river are you allowed to cross private land? I am not looking for a loop hole in the law to gain access. I am just wandering what the situation is, as on many rivers where there is accepted access the agreed access points are usually limited to...
