Re: Paddle Spigots and Lever Lock joint
I got a lever lock from Mitchell Paddles to replace the press lock on some Lendal splits, as they only had 90 degree option. Can now do any angle RH or LH, so job done. Give them a ring, or drop an email, them may be able to help you out. Tried level lock from Celtic Paddles, but now slightly slimme...

Re: Pyranha Outfitting Issues
Just a thought, but you really don't move that fitting once you have the boat set up to fit you, so think about this. Why not put this bolt in "upside down" with the nut on the outside. If bolt sticks up, buy a shorter one and stainless steel locking nut, or even a domed nut to fit. Then any padding...

Looks similar to the drain hole in the Soul Gonzo.
The Zen type 1 drain plug from Canoe and Kayak Store fitted fine and is completely watertight.

Re: Expression 11 / Dagger Katana - Suitable for tall paddler?
Have a friend with 34/35 inch inside leg, size 11 shoes and around 85kgs who paddles a Katana, and has paddled a medium Fusion too.
Says both are the most comfortable boats he has paddled, this is after 10 mile sessions on rivers.

Re: Shoulder surgery - experiences of recovery time
Hi, I had a similar issue 30 years ago, and had open surgery (long before keyhole was being used), and I can relate 100% with what is being recommended. My surgery was in the September of 1988, and by the late summer/autumn of 1989 I was back paddling the Tryweryn. Yes, it sounds a long time, but it...

Sounds like this was a very expensive exercise for the company involved, £1.7 million loss, so maybe there will not be a further year of this project.

Re: Bl**dy Rolling
Definitely go on the PyB rolling course. Several years ago having paddled higher volume boats for a long time, I took the plunge and got a low volume boat, and my roll became rubbish. Instructors at PyB were great, realised the issue straight away and redesigned my roll completely. Best thing was on...

Re: Recovering from Sciatica
Hi Bob, My commiserations, as a long term sufferer I know what you must be going through. First thing to ask is, did they identify the cause, i.e. disc damage, or something other? My problem was damage to the Piriformis muscle through/under which the sciatic nerve passes. Just a few thoughts from th...

Having been on the receiving end of this "trick" resulting in ruptured tendons in my shoulder, I think this is a highly dangerous thing to do. Plenty of other options as soon paddler in front seen to be in trouble, but playing follow the leader?

Re: Why do people still paddle a topo?
Because it's the boat they want to paddle. What does it do better than the new boats? Turn this round, what to new boats do better than a Topo? If you enjoy paddling what you have, why change it because someone who doesn't know you thinks it doesn't look as "cool" as his boat and kit? When I started...

Looks like they did indeed install and test one somewhere, but lots of music, no narrative as to how effective/efficient it is/was. Not sure I'd fancy going down a weir with one of these in the way. Also, does not look, from what little you can see from the video, like the water behind is very flat,...

My wife recently went on her annual trek across Wales on horseback, using as many bridle-paths and tracks as possible, even wading through waist deep bogs, and paddling in the River Severn pretty close to it's source. Anyway, to annoy me this year she took this photo!!! http://i297.photobucket.com/a...

Yes, but back then, 70's we never had any problems. Passed many fishermen, always waited until waved through, never any hassles.Anyone paddle Helmsdale?
Maybe try Caithness Kayak Club for further info, they have details of trips on their site.

Re: Permanent Mid river Hydro Barges proposed.
I agree, an interesting concept, but I wonder if it is in the same category as the Salter's "ducks"? Will the conversion of mechanical to electrical energy be the largest headache? I am not an engineer, but would think that it would be constant laminar flow you would seek to use for such energy capt...
