I make wholemeal porridge with boiling water then add a dash of soya milk, more nutritious and it keeps longer. Ive also had it with clotted cream and maple syrup for a top treat.

I can say Im familiar with that lid but if its carbon or glass reinforced plastic ,painting is ok.If lid is any form of thermo moulded plastic then solvents used in paints can affect the integrity

Portaging harness

Ive seen in a dvd some guys carrying in with creek boats on there backs in a rucksack style harness. A river I do now and again involves a long yomp. Has anyone tried carrying like this? Did it make it much easier? Are these harnesses comercially available or is it a "roll yer own" job?

2 pack polyester paints are awesome for adhesion , uv resistance general toughness and high gloss. They are also readilly available in any colour from car paint suppliers. If you prep boat a car spray shop would spray it if you dont feel confident. If you do it your self wear a vapour proof respirat...

mharrall wrote Tricky with modern boats as the split line often isn't horizontal, it can wander all over the place. Might be possible to split the mould vertically providing the boat hasn't got rails like most of the current Pyranhas do. As I said ,its tedious, not tricky. Stick 25mm masking tape to...

Its illegal due to copyright infringement but its easy to take a female mould of any plastic boat you fancy, change it a little and youre home free. You need a goodun, not full of scratches, polish and wax it well and a good release is ensured. Only slightly tedious part is forming the flange at the...

Insurance for kayaks

Ive been kayaking for a couple of years and have never thought about insuring my kit. Do any of you guys bother with this? If so ,would I need a seperate policy for each of my river boats and my sea boat or does a policy cover any number? Would it also cover theft from roofrack? Id be gratefull for ...

I have had this reaction before with composites Ive built. The problem is usually in the finishing stage ie paint. If paint is applied to heavily and/or dried too quickly, the surface can cure leaving solvents trapped underneath. In time this tries to migrate out forming the pox spots.Carbon is usua...

The absolute worse smell is if you go in the sea. The smell is from dying plankton etc. I find a slight spray with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water, after rinsing the kit works well. Youre flat will smell like a chip shop for a few hours though

Which section of Plym are you referring to? I never heard of primrose falls so I guess its not the bit from Shaughbridge to Bickleigh that I run.
