Re: HPP arson

As far as I know it wasn't the personal boat store, just the club boats and possibly some world class slalom boats, that are stored at the back of the car park in containers (ie not in the centre buildings).

Re: HPP arson

It sounds like it is most of my clubs (HPPCC )boats along with some of the World Class slalom boats... Our club chairman and treasurer have been informed. If you are going down to HPP please respect the area cordoned off by the centre - the police are still investigating, the environment agency have...

Re: Marston Weir, River Dove................

Church Wilne of late seems to have got a bit better. The weir (lower one) has broken up since the last time I went , say 18 months ago, but surprisingly the wave has improved (not great, but not too bad). It's a nice spot too. I had a good chat with some of the fishermen in the car park up by the la...

Re: HPP: Ditch pix

Considering the weather we've had in the last two weeks (lots of snow), I am not at all surprised that the deadlines may have slipped. I was quite surprised to see just how much had been done despite the weather. The Trent is slowly on the way down now so the risk from flooding should be ok for a wh...

We were on the Eden/Mawdach on Saturday, and having lost a boat and paddles, which were subsequently found 1.5 miles downstream of the get in, I am surprised that we didn't spot your boat. We were on the water from around 01:00pm until just before dark. I hope you find it. Slim ps Many thanks to the...

I've just looked through the plans and compared to where we were not so long ago (filling the whole thing in to a depth of 1.2m), it is now looking very promising. My first thoughts were how it is going to affect you squirt guys (and I'm not even a squirt boater). But then as BenW says you never kno...

As for ear coverage, I have only heard of a single incident where ear coverage may of made a different to an injury. I think the desire for ear coverage is more through the need to believe your ears are exposed than the risk of actually taking an impact so low down on the side of the head. I think ...

We did a 260 mile return trip to the Tryweryn last weekend and got 37mpg from my Volvo V70 (diesel automatic) with 3 boats on the roof. On a run with no boats I have managed 46mpg, so not all Volvo's are "thirsty beasts". My last V70 (petrol Turbo aka "Thirsty Beast") would have returned 22-23mpg wi...
