their attitude to paying guests on their site is generally appalling. I disagree with this - I have camped there several times over the last two/three years and I have never encountered any problems with the owners. The campsite is in my opinion is rather good. The showers and toilets are always im...

Just read the above letter. Fantastic! I couldn't agree more. Well done Mark. The funny thing is I don't feel the same way about congratulating all the elite athletes acheiving this, that, and the other. In fact, I am really not interested at all. So BCU please try to make some response, as you migh...

River Derwent (Derbyshire) Access - river adjacent to a road

Recently these signs have appeared on the Derbyshire Derwent, near Church Wilne, where the river runs next to the road. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/slim.turnbull/Picture(2).jpg This part of the Derwent is the bit below Derby not far from the Trent confluence. Navigation rights do I believe exist fo...

Interesting web link Jon. I went to HPP last night and I didn't see any security car! I mentioned this to the Guy in Slalom Control and he immediately got on the phone to the main office. I am not sure what he did as I still didn't see any security later on? As far as I was aware though, there were ...

If you have peer to peer [http://www.emule-project.net].. there are a few non pirate kayak vids available including the 2004 GB Freestyle finals at HPP. Peer to peer could be a good way of sharing home videos without breaking someones band width.

NikWax

I NikWaxed my Peak dry cag last week - it was decidedly leaky, but after 2.5 years, twice a week use, I reckon it is doing very well. The result was exceptional - I paddled last night at HPP and when I got off, for once in a very very long time, I had dry kit on underneath!! I really couldn't believ...

Drilling Sponge

Sponge is a very difficult material to work with. As Jim has pointed out, it doesn't drill well. The easy way around this problem is to simply place your sponge in a bucket of water and then place in the freezer overnight. The next day you can then drill your ice cube to your hearts content. Remembe...

NZ does look good, but from what a mate of mine tells me (he's been out there for the past nine months and has just got his residency) is that there is no "culture"!
