Re: Hand Paddles

I use hand paddles exclusively these days when squirt boating and have over the years tried both. The neoprene ones are OK for getting a bit of assistance but you have to spread your fingers to get maximum surface area which is tiring. They are no where near as powerful as the riverholics or power p...

Allan Ellard was regularly seen Tricky Whuing a H3/ Burn in the looping pool at HPP.

Crazy behaviour but very impressive.

Expensive way to get to the top just so you can slide down! Two things spring to mind - what on earth was that guy thinking trying to stop a half ton(?) skidoo from tumbling down a mountain by hand? Thought at one point he was gonna go down hill of it and just try to stop it in its tracks! And was a...

I was one of the others who got the same reply.

Sent him another email basically asking him what authority he has to go against canoe Wales stated access position and negotiate an agreement for me. Also stated I won't be sticking to it.

Re: Action in an electrical storm

You have a few seconds' warning of being struck. If short-haired your scalp will tingle. As the corona becomes established you'll most likely hear a crackling or sizzling noise. If you hear this then remove yourself pronto as doing so might break the formation of the ionised channel up to the cloud...

Hmmm was bound to happen, it's a busy and dangerous bit of water. Prevents the unprepared masses from hurting themselves but a bit of a shame for those who do know what they're doing. On a seperate note, anyone know where these whirlpools are that are mentioned? After all the by law says nothing abo...

Dragorrosi Squashtail - easily available for around your budget
And the Fluid Element

Squashtail regularly crops up on the boards, element less so. Both are short fast ish boats that are great fun in the surf.

Hi, I have a Downtime Whisper, excellent condition, in union flag colours that would suit you perfect. I am an inch taller than you and the same weight and it floats just on the cockpit rim. In my other world I fly radio control planes. Currently I am building a heavy lift quad copter for aerial photography. It does seem to be that the idea of smooth linked movements, efficiency, precise paddle position, and grace are under appreciated and not really cared for much now. I beg to differ! This is the reason d'être for squirt boaters. It's just the yoof of today splashing around in plastic tubs giving eve...

You can get a squirt boat into a KA by laying the front passenger seat back and putting the boat on the seat! Just make sure it's dry and or use a boat bag. I would imagine all small hatches will easily swallow a play boat in this manner?

Would a PM on here to the right person constitute a sealed bid? You could have your cake and eat it. No tickets to print and a massive potential audience. Just post a list of prizes the week or so before. That way you may actually get the £50 quid under retail price for the items rather than relying...

I am curious...... if these impact vests have 50N buoyancy (the same as a lot of BA's) and they allow more freedom of movement presumably whilst kayaking as well as swimming, why don't more people wear them for general kayaking!! I can understand if you are doing a bit of a trip or going off-shore ...

Re: Upper Dart – Why is it infamous?

Daffers, you can probably take comfort from the first time me, Jamie Austen and a few others ran the upper. We were told that it was a fairly chunky level and certainly the loop was an entertaining play boat run. We got on and paddled down with no major problems and no inspections always wondering w...
