Re: Swallow falls

RDScott said I was staying out of this thread but there doesnt seem to be infantile names being called or any evidence that the water was to low. it would seem that people are exprising there oppinions on thos well known gentalman who is an annoyance to kayakers and possibly goes a little over the ...

Re: Down the local...

Whats your 'local' river and whats so good about it? We're talking 20/30 miles away from where you live maximum! Dug, you are SO fishing for tick-list fodder here. Come on, admit it! :) Nah not really, long way for me to go down South or to Wales to paddle most of the ones so far! My local river is...

Hmm not sure I agree with the kayaking part.... Yes at the Uni canoe club and then working for PGL being one of the best (ok lets go modest and say the best ;-)) paddler around may have helped a little but the really world.... Re: Dagger Mamba - seat problems

I had the exact same problem as you with my Mamba, few to many drops and the seat pops over the washers. My Solution was to get some bigger washers! Stick some really big ones in there and although it might be a little looser than when brand new its a damn site better than it poping through every ti...

Re: How to repair a split on kayak....

hi, to repair a split is not a big deal, I became fairly good at it as I repaired 5 splits on my boat... there are different schools about how to do it. personally I think the best way is using only a heat gun. this is due to the fact that to properly bond the plastic you need to mix the material y...

Re: The best whitewater paddlers ...

Quite an interesting topic and one that will no doubt start a bit of a war on here I think. I get the impression that a lot of the loudest voices in here come from the pay for courses and the bigger the certificate pile the more you know crew. Personally the best paddlers I know have not 'paid' for ...

Re: Blaze/Sonic/Inazone

Blaze is a great boat.
I paddled one for years, playful enough to cartwheel but big enough to get you down the gnarl! Theres a video of Marv running end of the world in one somewhere online!
On the otherhand I'll sell you an I3 for £150 + postage as I need the cash too! (although its got a weld..)

Def not the magic Minnoch, rock type and plants etc are all wrong. Plus there is no road big enough to have a barrier or rail track etc anywhere near it.

If your staying as far over as Wanlockhead you could try the Yarrow and Ettrick gorge further East. They go without huge amounts of water.

You can get down the Nith unless its proper drought or totally frozen. Try the Doon at Ness Glen as well, it is always runnable.

Yeah actually I think your right, Inverlair falls from random angles. If you look at the top pic you can see the bridge over the 'last gorge' before the falls.
If I'm wrong twice I'll give up!

I think it's all down to chance and what you are paddling really. I've seen a nomad broken and split my Mamba twice in the last couple of months as well a an I3. Had not seen a boat split before that then suddenly loads. Think it just depends on what batch etc you get.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. We as paddlers will achieve very little on our own. It would take someone with a calm and calculated temperament to work in conjunction with a whole host of other sports and past times to jointly put in protective legislation. Thankfully our sport north of t...
