Re: Some clarification of Canoe England's access policy...

Maybe the BCU/CE are the wrong organisation to take forward the challenge of access to rivers. It is difficult to know how the 'national governing body' for an olympic sport is viewed by people such as ministers. Perhaps ministers see them as simply representing canoeists who race across short flat...

Re: Some clarification of Canoe England's access policy...

I too have emailed Andy Green requesting some clarification on the access policy. Two weeks and still no reply. I did mention I was a BCU member on the mail. No reply as yet. Not impressed. Every time I get annoyed at the SCA for somthing thinking about the BCU makes me a little less annoyed....

Re: 'Paddling' and 'Rain'

Does anyone know what's working in Scotland? Anything north-west or north-east, we're fairly flexible at the moment. I'm going up there tonight in prep for a 5 star assessment this weekend and just praying the rivers come up. Been keeping an eye on metcheck, mwis and BBC weather and all suggest ver...

Pool Boats

Hey guys looking for some advice. Anyone got any recomendations of new club pool boats to buy? My club is looking to replace our 80s BATS with some newer boats without spending a fortune... I've had a look at the Master TGs with possibly a couple of the Rapid+ Ina Zones thrown in to mix it up a bit....

Welding.... on the inside

Fresh from welding my Mamba back together again I've run into a little problem. The crack is not fully welded on the inside of the boat. In the past this has not been a problem as I've always cracked the boat somewhere I can reach both sides. Has anyone else come across this problem before? Am I jus...

Re: 'Paddling' and 'Rain'

It's raining in Edinburgh today. Not much, but an encouraging dribble given that it's been dry for so long. The eternal problem is, of course, that when we do suddenly get a load of water, you can't take advantage of it because you're so rediculously rusty. I think I've been in a boat once since No...

Re: Do you carry a BCU Membership Card on the river ?

I can see the advantage somewhere like that, you do get a lot of 'joe public' putting themselves in danger on 'urban water ways'. Although the expensive kayaking gear etc would prob be a tip off that your not just an idiot on a blow up bed who is gonna do themselves some harm.
