Re: Grave concerns over SCA GM

Chris, Does that come from the SCA accounts? I wasn't aware the SCA was subsidising the courses - is this ring-fenced grant money the SCA is distributing, or is it just something you've made up? They are def subsidising all the new pre recs for the coaching courses there are forms available for app...

Re: Grave concerns over SCA GM

Believe there have been a couple of posts compairing costs/time on this forum in the past Giles.... and why can't someone from the coaching side of the SCA come forth and comment? Should there be a seperation between 'professional' awards and 'amature' awards? Oh wait we're well past time for consul...

Re: Pattack Hydro: no objection.

I would hate to see the Pattack dammed, I thought it was a brilliant river in a stunning location. Surely the rivers volume isn't sufficent enough to create enough power? Thats exactly it, it wont be and its a damn site bigger than some of the things being damed. It's all about subsidy and making t...

Phew I'm not to good at text debates but... Not against people having to pay more at all just that £5 per non member seems so unenforceable/ a bit of a crack pot idea.. If we go down the insurance route then eh we're not insured anyways... I'm qualified to LEAD people up to G4...(4 ppl) and never pa...

Re: Pattack Hydro: no objection.

All this hydro stuff really depresses me and not just from the paddling side of things. I can't believe my government is actively perusing a policy of subsidising hydro schemes left right and centre just to try and make themselves look 'green'. I'm all for hydro power on big rivers like the Tummel e...

Re: Construction and progress of cardiff bay slalom course.

As far as I know they're filling it from the Ely (sp?) when its at good quality levels then running the water thru the pumps where it will become cleaner as its pumped round. Was down there at new year so got the low down on it, looks just a little more interesting than Teeside.

Re: Grave concerns over SCA GM

Personally I'd say all these debacles recently have lowered my opinion of the SCA by a huge amount. I'm coming at this from a normal club commitie member/guy who somtimes teaches kiddies to kayak position... As a result I'm possibly not quite so up on the who is in who's camp, technical lingo etc as...

Its all good, Just drink a few litres of coke before you get on if your that worried. For all I care, its a new place to paddle in times like today when there is absolutely no water! Winner :D Apparently its going to be a closed system topped up from the River. So the longer the course runs the cle...
