Re: VW T4 convertion
I can't emphasise this enough. When insulating a metal box you have to remember that any moisture - from your breath, wet kayaking gear etc. - will condense when it hit the cold metal and turn fibreglass to a soggy mess, also the water will run to the bottom and if there is no drainage just sit ther...

Can you get Kodak 16mm developed these days? I've got 7 reels of Kodachrome slide film that I can't get developed! Last time I looked someone had worked out how to develop it to B&W prints at c.£1.00 a slide. £36 to find out what the picture are like? I think not.

Have you a photo of the camera? Chris organised and filmed the 1st British expedition to the Grand Canyon, a trip down the Marsyandi, pulled out of going with Mike Jones on the original Blue Nile expedition.

Re: EJ resigns
Kayaks are far too cheap these days to allow the manufacturer enough profit margin to re-invest in the development of new boats, new fittings, events, sales support etc. You can argue as much as you like about the rate of inflation but kayaks are far better now-a-days: the plastic is better the fitt...

We sat in our kayaks on the Severn waiting for the Bore to come through at around 11.00pm. At about 12.30 we paddled into shore to discover the Bore had been passed us but there had been no wave.

It has been done from Bala to Chester in a day in a kayak and in an open double canoe but both were done when the river was HIGH which it certainly isn't at the moment!

From Trevor (Pontyscyllite aqueduct) to Chester is easy paddling. There is Trevor Rocks rapids just upstream of the aqueduct and Newbridge rapid a few miles below which are easy class 2 rapids. Below this there are two weirs Erbistock and another which should be portaged probably. Once below the wei...

Re: Kayaking holyday to Idaho
Boats on internal flights are pretty much a no no so unless you can get routed all the way to Boise(?) be careful. Also many Idaho rivers are permit rivers: Main Salmon, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Locksau (sp?) etc. Hiring boats in Idaho is easy, reasonable and common.

I don't know about the 9R:2 but years ago I paddled the Burn mk1 own the Yusufei gorge section of the Coruh and then took the Burn mk2 down the same section. It was almost enough of a different boat to maybe warrant a different name except it looked so similar. The main improvement in the mk2 was th...

John MacLeod posted this on the UK Canoe Slalom Results page on Facebook: " Maurice made possibly the earliest fibreglass boat in UK called 'Maid of St.Helens' laid up over a skin/lath kayak. 20kg at least 💪 maybe 1961 - always contributing to the next way forward."

Re: When where who?
When, where and who was the first person to make plastic kayaks? 1st plastic kayak made by Robin Witter of ACE in 1976 Chester. Graham Mackereth, Robin and Rodney Witter invested in developing the idea. Graham pulled out as it was eating money. The Witters persevered and we had one for the training ...

Pioneered by lakes paddling legend Richard Evans. Certainly ran everything he published. Mostly in prijon probe or latterly an RPM. Anyone ticked all his becks? The probe was from eurokayak. The Probe was a prototype for the plastic version of the Topolino - they basically got the shrinkcage wrong ...
