Re: River Tavy - Tavistock to Denham Bridge
The EA are working on the collapsed weir (some times know as Dentist Weir) just before the monitoring station. Portage left early as there is lots of debris in the water including iron bars. Work also ongoing on the salmon leap.

Re: River Walkham - Huckworthy to Bedford Bridge
The EA are working at Horrabridge weir and its totally blocked with plastic tunnels in the water making a temp platform for a digger. A new salmon leap is under construction and there are large bags of stone in the water above the weir. Portage left into the park and stay well clear.

Re: River Walkham - Bedford bridge to Tavy Confluence
Just Paddled the Walkham, about 200m down the river from Bedford bridge there is a tree blocking the river, if levels are low you might be able to squeeze past on the left (and i mean squeeze). The river is also still totally blocked at Magpie bridge (also known as Gem bridge), no exit right due to ...

River Rubbish/Litter
Hello I paddled the River Tavy yesterday, its one of my locals, and I was appalled at the state of the river and river bank. Litter and general rubbish covers the banks all the way down from Tavistock to Lopwell Dam. As I said its one of my local rivers and i have not noticed it this bad before. I w...

Re: The Lost World of Scarborough
Home sweet home, I live/grew up and learnt to paddle in Robin Hoods Bay, I regularly paddle RHB to Whitby and RHB to Ravenscar and back. Its a great place for sea paddling, big high cliffs covered in sea birds, seals, wrecks and lots more. Great for exploring at low tides and some good surf spots. i...

Re: What are the outcomes of the UKCC coaching scheme ?
I have been watching this post with interest, As a paddler trying to get onto the coaching scheme, I like many of me fellow paddlers are at the point of give up, primarily because of the cost and time required to jump through all the hoops the BCU are putting in place. I have been paddling for over ...

Re: Secret Britain 15.8.10
I understand what Janet is saying but you can't give a full safety brief every time the BBC shows some sort of sport, at least they had the correct gear on. I live in west Devon and spend a lot of time exploring its coast climbing and by kayak. Over the past few years with the increase in sit on top...
