I think it might be an Espada.

Re: Wanted Valley Aluet 11 or very similar

There was (and I think still is) one for sale a week or so ago on Facebook. No connection to the sale, just recall thinking it looked good at the time. Link doesn't work for some reason but it was in the "Canoes and Kayaks for sale England" group (search Aleut and it should come up - red deck, white...

Re: marine vhf - listening online?

I know the OP didn’t specifically mention emergency calls but it is illegal to publish them (ie put them online).

Belfast Coastguard have been reminding people of this on social media recently, pointing out that such calls involve someone’s family or loved ones.

Re: Two halves - recommendations for south Argyll please

Kyles of Bute from Colintraive. Very sheltered, small islands, lots of seals and only a few yards to carry boats from the parking next to the ferry slipway. Good ale and food in the pub too!

Yes, as long as they have the slot for the T-track system. (Been standard on Thule aero bars for years).

Thule Hullavator

No problem, I’m not in any rush. I’m sure someone will be along who’d prefer one in VGC for less than 75% of the cost of a new one!

Re: Thule Hullavator

Morning Jason, I've had it for a couple of years and I believe the previous owner had it for a couple of years before me. It is in VGC and is only on the car when the boat is (ie removed between kayaking trips so not subject to road salt/grime). It is stored in a garage the rest of the time and kept...

Re: Ocean A spray deck

Morning Nick, I have a Reed Aquatherm spraydeck for a Nelo Inuk. It is barely used - I'll try to find the exact dimensions for an Inuk cockpit but I'm pretty sure it'll be similar to an Ocean A. The waist tube is 32". I'd be able to send it out next weekend, i'm looking for £35 for it which includes...

I’ve got a little used Reed Aquatherm spraydeck for an Inuk - waist tube 32”. Just in case your buyer needs one although it’ll be about 3 weeks before I could send it out. Feel free to let them know.

On a good day Arisaig is simply stunning. Lots of white sand beaches and islets to paddle around while the seals watch you watching them. Dolphins, porpoises, etc all seem to like it too. There are a few beach-side campsites in the area. We stayed at this one: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/revie...

Skoda Octavia - the "saloons" are actually hatchbacks and they have loads of room - seriously worth a look. Some are even in the £0 tax band.

Re: Blenheim K1 Weight Range?

Hi, my dad used to race one back in the 90's. He was about 12 stone and it looked pretty low in the water with him in it. They don't have much freeboard compared to a Struer K1 of the same vintage.

Re: Carbon skeg , what do you think ?

Well it is very pretty but I'm not convinced there is a market for it. Most sea kayakers could save the same weight by changing their current brand of malt whisky for a lower volume of a stronger variety!

Now, a carbon fibre hip flask, that would be interesting...

Re: Roof rails - are they worth it?

The other benefit of roof rails is that you can often fit longer cross-bars than you can with standard fittings (especially manufacturers own racks which tend to be designed for asthetics rather than practicality). For example with a little modification I use aerobars from a VW Transporter on a Volv...

It doesn't look like there are any major changes from what I've read. There was some concern that they would move away from the 3-layer lay-up to a single layer like Venture normally use but I think they've stuck with the 3-layer. It is certainly cheaper than many of the more recent designs, quite a...

Was that all the same day/group or were you throwing empty boats in to practice rescues? Just one point, on both occasions when unpinning the boat on the top drop the lead of the recovery line was on the upstream side of the "rescuers" on the rock. Better practice (IMHO) would be to have it on the d...
