Re: Corsica WW kayak trip April 2017

Hi andy
I assume the date for this is April, as per the title and not August , in the text ( as it is a bit on the dry side)

Following a PM'd question , it is the 2013 contour seat , not the earlier black one

Re: RIVER OUSE (Linton Weir)

Jim You are right the fish ladder goes at most levels but the (fairly) new addition of the hydro scheme on the west bank has changed the amount of water down the ladder itself. I will note the gauge and the usability of the ladder over the few months and I will post something. It should be said the ...

Re: A Possibly Diffinitive Answer from CE on Access!

Perhaps they do not wish to get into a position of trying to defend a legal action incurring all of the costs involved and then be at the whim of a district judge who is most likely a water whipper anyway! Note: Legal action for what I am not sure. I do not feel the stance of BCU/CE has any kind of ...

Re: Power Inverter for the paddlewagon?

I use a 150watts (300w peak) one that I got from Maplin. It is more than enough to charge/run a laptop and phone at the same time. But it does get quite warm I fitted a 3000w one to my business partners Discovery to run a compressor - that was a alot of money and it got hot! How much power do you wa...

I know of chap near Hull who will custom make you a greenland stick for around £120-140

They are lovely, but it takes a couple of weeks from your 'fitting'

I have one of the small 3-4 persons ones from TK Maxx, useful ,very good for the money but the plastic window is prone to cracking in very cold weather (fixable with sail repair tape) I have a home made one ( made from 2oz PU rip stop nylon) that has proved to be very useable for many years Get ( an...

I think Mark's reply should have read 'over £25K' There was a chap at BCU/canoe england who understood the terms of doing this. Also, my understanding is that you must trade as a sole trader without a company/firm name i.e. H C Coaching or similair, be within remit, valid etc.. I would try BCU again...

Mike Jones Film of K2/Braldu River

Hello An old buddy of mine (and a very tidy paddler in his day) has asked me to assist him in finding a copy of the film of K2/Braldu River made for the 1978 trip, on which Mike Jones sadly died. If anyone can help, please come back to me. Stu PS Or even if anyone knows the title of the film to help...

Re: 90 Kgs in a Pyranha Rotobat??

I would have to say a 90KG chap would likely be a little heavy. The low line of the rear cockpit might prove to be enteraining when alighting & exiting the craft. By the way they (rotobats) do not go in straight lines (without a good bit of practise), if that is an issue. Maybe try one a club (most ...

Re: BCU/UKCC Level 3

Gonzo/Steve is correct Going forward the level three training will be run by Canoe England centrally. Your RCO will be the best point of contact and they should have some firm dates from Mid-May (ECMC next meets on 7.5.2010) I was a student on the Team North training programmes last summer with Kim ...
