Re: Mystery slides

We don't think it's the Ardez. If it's on the Inn it's more like the Brail.

Re: Gd 2-3 in the Oetz area early August

The section above Tossens on the Inn is a nice easy section grade 2. Put on by the border and paddle down to the Tossens put on. You can also paddle from the Landeck gorge take out to the Imst put in for another easy paddle. In Switzerland the schuls section can be made just grade 2/3 by putting on ...

Symonds Yat 14th/15th October

Just a heads up on October 14th and 15th 150 slalom boaters will be turning up to race at Symonds Yat rapids. As in previous years paddlers can still pass through the rapids on the way down to Monmouth but please stop to speak to one of the officials on the riverside steps of the hotel first. They w...

Re: Recommend me a Spraydeck

I've got a dominatrix and you do need a smaller deck. Mine is a peak UK deck which actually says riot as the cockpit size. Looking at the website I can't see that size but if you contacted peak UK they would be able to tell you if the small deck is the one for a riot dominatrix.

Symonds Yat April 1st and 2nd

Just to warn people who haven't seen elsewhere there's a slalom competition at the Yat Rapids on 1st and 2nd April. It's going to be a busy weekend of racing with 150 expected each day. If you are paddling the river on these dates please stop and speak to pre-start on the hotel steps above the rapid...

Does it need to be canals or would you consider rivers like the Wye, Severn or Thames which all make good easy water expeditions?

Re: British Canoeing AGM

Access was one of the issues that there was up for discussion at the regional consultations. However, at the one I attended only one person went to speak in the access group ( you got to choose which detailed discussions you wanted to join after the general discussion). You just have to hope those w...

River Wye Calendar

I don't agree with the access advice but the calendar is good if you're planning a trip on the Wye and want to avoid Canoe Slalom, rowing or fishing competitions.

Re: Stone mini slalom 1 finish time?

There's an email for the organiser on canoeslalom.co.uk or you might find someone on the chatter board there knows the answer. I know entries have to be in by 10am and racing starts at 11am but I don't know any more than that.

Re: Baby friendly Alpine activities / Via Ferrata rental

Both the Onde and lower Guisanne you can walk from the put in to the take out. Providing the group paddling doesn't have a time they like to race and your baby is being carried and not toddling then if you start walking while they get changed by the time they've run the shuttle and paddle you're at ...

Re: Baby friendly Alpine activities / Via Ferrata rental

We were out there 2 years ago with our then 18 month year old and are back this year with our 3 year old. Assuming you're also trying to do some paddling then: Lovely swimming lake and park in the Ubaye valley. We found river side walks much better as more shade for them so along the Onde and along ...

On a positive note for palm their customer service is fantastic. The seam tapes peeled off my semi dry cag and even though it was a year past warranty I got a replacement for free. The original was in excellent condition as had only had 2 weeks paddling.

If the problem is just the shaft is slippy when wet some paddle wax could be the solution. Just make sure you get either kayak specific or warm water surfer wax (as your hands are warm).

Symonds Yat Rapids are owned by the BCU and managed by a sub committee which includes local business owners and representatives from local clubs (currently Wyedean and Cheltenham though any local clubs or individuals are welcome to get involved). As Simon said the biggest problem with moving rocks i...

Paddled this today and there are still a number of trees to take care of. Of the ones straight after the bridge we took out the first so the next two are easier to pass. The one to really watch out for is just by the house you can see on river left. There is now a small sneak route river right at me...

Paddled this section yesterday and there is a large tree across the river just below the put in. It is passable on river right with some ducking at medium flows but may be trickier at high flows.

Austria and Switzerland have been brilliant for combining babies and kayaking, we're hoping France will be as ...
